Title: Blockchain DB: Store any data on the blockchain, 100% uncensorable.
Post by: nikkihalbrook on February 03, 2015, 01:24:41 PM
Blockchain DB allows you to leverage the blockchain as a redundant message / data archival system. Just enter your text (or raw bytes, if you preer to store data), pay the fee, and it will be embedded into the blockchain.

It uses OP_HASH160 so the data cannot be pruned or ultrapruned - guaranteeing that your data will forever remain on the blockchain. It's also completely uncensorable.

ok..
but with this solution,
what size would reach the blockchain ??
i think no GB... but PetaByte...
and how you will be able to download an sync with him?

The concept is nothing new ("black hole" addresses such as "1BitcoinEaterAddressDontSendf59kuE" are exactly the same thing).

If people really want to do this and do it for free then I'll build it into the CIYAM Wallet (so the OP gets nothing as trying make money from spamming the blockchain should not be supported IMO).

hi CIYAM...

but what about blockchain size after this implementation/fork????

It wouldn't be a fork as you can do this now (by creating nonsense address hashes).

Of course I agree it is a bad idea to bloat the blockchain in general - but I'd rather offer that for free than to see someone making money out of it.

Might be better to use a POS-based coin/blockchain usage so it doesn't spam up the bitcoin chain wasting tons of energy for likely junk messages.  There's a ton of coins out there that aren't utilized very heavily that you could probable hang this service off of.  Pick two alt-blockchains for some blockchain high availability... :)

I was gonna say, maybe using bitcoin's blockchain is not the greatest of choices but this gave me a new idea :D
