Do you think Darkleaks will become more darker like Silk Road? Or will it stay like Wikileaks?

but its success will be given only by the importance of the information that will be stored with the service darkleaks ...
if it will be "top secret" level, will have an incredible success ...
whether the information is "Trash" level...

There is no relation between Silk Road and Wikileaks. One is a marketplace and another is a whistle-blower.

This could either be an amazing thing, or an awful thing.

It can lead to great secrets being exposed, and that's quite good. There are many things running behind out backs that we should be aware of...

But it can make a business out of exposing secrets. Some will only trade them for hefty amounts of Bitcoin. Let's see where this goes :)

The question is, will you trade btc for some confidential military secrets or nude celebrity pictures? What do you think?

What kind of compartion is this? Victor bought up valid point, why should darkleaks sell drugs.

The question is, why not? Many would give away thousands of Bitcoin in exchange for secrets like the ones Snowden or Assange made public.

As for nudes, haha, they would eventually get funded by many who want to see!

I think there is indeed a market for these kinds of things. But so far most of the people leaked stuff for free. By creating an easy and pseudo-anonymous market for leakers, we are in a way, making this just another market... :)

I don't like their idea to mix leaked Hollywood movies with confidential government secrets. They should choose what kind of users they're looking for.

I think they're looking for a business, not users. They're also looking to make the biggest impact possible ;)

I think there is a ready market for this and will continue to build-up as great secrets are being exposed day by day.
The question now lies is the verification of such secrets if they are valid or hoax. I do tend to see some will go in this road of hoaxing people in order to try to get some hefty amount of BTC. In such case, it remains to be seen for darkleaks. One should also try to consider if this is created for a honeypot mechanism.

So how does this compare with wikileaks?  do you need to pay to leak something? if so then it will fail.

Its not exactly a new version of wikileaks. Unlike wikileaks, Darkleaks has releases such as movies too .
Its basically leaking by the people. I am sure the government will find a way to shut it down soon after launch.

I opened four threads in this section and everyone leads to bitforum.info. This is a strong argument for not using this website.

Darkleaks is not yet making some noise in the digital currency world.

At first I thought it was like wikileaks but for the common man where he could expose corruption at local level and enjoy anonymity..

But later it seems dark leaks is an information black market with anonymity

I dont trust info i have to pay. Guess Darkleaks will be just one more service trading shit for bitcoins.

Why should we pay for information if we can get it for free ;D

I dont think that it would be the next Wikileaks.

Seems ridiculously contrived to me, and a bit dangerous perhaps.  Leakers like Snowden and Assange blow the whistle due to moral trepidation, at least ostensibly.  Monetization didn't come into it.
Monetization just removes the moral part from the equation.  Great place for business espionage and military secrets to be sold to adversarial governments.

Not that darkleaks is needed for the above, which is what makes it contrived.

Would like to see a blockchain exclusively for leaks of this nature.

It is actually a pretty good idea. When do they plan on releasing it ?

The blockchain has a perfect structure to delevop something to leak documents without being traced.

The "Darkleaks" link to their code repository in that article goes to Darkwallet which is alpha and shouldn't be used for anything except testing.

Darkleaks is not making any noise right now.
Silk Road still is making a lot of noise even if the site has been closed down for awhile.

That's an awesome idea and what's bad about using bitcoin for it!
It's just advantagous for both of us

Darkleaks will never be Silk Road.

Silk Road is the best there is and it was good when eyes werent watching.
