Title: AwfulCoin
Post by: Bernard Lerring on February 04, 2015, 04:43:04 AM
Here's an idea that I thought of for a laugh. Let's invent a crypto coin with the most awful properties we can! Trolls, please don't suggest Bitcoin. Thank you.

After thinking about this for five minutes I've decided to call my coin AwfulCoin.

Some properties of AwfulCoin:

Every receiving address starts with your date of birth (eg 09021984-1h8sNh5aUshWpXom92omEvt6hmwPcdSfZ).

Confirmations are "dynamically timed" according to difficulty. Unfortunately the algorithm causes a confirmation to take between 8 and 48 minutes.

AwfulCoin is unique in that you pay receiving fees, not sending fees. When you log into your wallet you must authorise all of your recieving fees before you can make another Tx.

I'll leave it up to the board to add more suggestions. AwfulCoin to tha moon!

How rude! Give me your AA (that's AwfulCoin address) and I'll send you a million for free.

One at a time, though.

-90% instamine
-9% pow
-1% pos
-outputs created by default client can be spent by a master key owned by the coin devs (e.g. OP_2DUP OP_DUP OP_HASH160 [recipient] OP_EQUAL OP_CHECKSIG OP_EQUAL OP_DUP OP_HASH160 [developer's master key] OP_EQUAL OP_CHECKSIG OP_EQUAL OP_SUM OP_1 OP_EQUALVERIFY or something along those lines)
-outputs not created by the default client cannot be included in blocks
-blocks must be at least 10KB, with a 10 minute interval
-blocks can be solved with either scrypt or x11; which is used is specified in the header
-outputs going to the developer's master key won't remove value from the transaction
-the logo has a 123RF watermark
-pow block rewards send 10% of newly generated coins to master key
-demurrage at the same rate as pos
-qt client is /satoshi-0.8.6/
-transactions require proof of work to broadcast; its hash must begin with eight hex zeroes to be valid
-terms of use say that usage of the coin requires donation of organs to developers

There have been a few ShitCoins launched which all attempted to be the most awful coin ever. The first one I heard of describes itself as a POS "Piece Of Shit" coin. The last post in the thread is a request for someone to revive the coin. Who needs a revival if AwfulCoin launches?

This is hilarious.  Will you really find a way to release it?

I am a huge fan of AwfulCoin! Here are some features I would suggest:

  • Wallet doesn't bother to remove the word "Litecoin" everywhere
  • Pop up ads in the wallet randomly appear
  • Completely centralized - you must register with your full name, address, DOB, and SSN before downloading wallet
  • DoxSend transactions (patent pending) - embeds your social security number in the blockchain and transaction ID
  • Guaranteed price ceiling - Premine is used for dumping whenever price rises too high
  • Premine blockchain pruning - reduces blockchain bloat by pruning out premine evidence
  • No BTC trading pairs exist, you can only buy with Paycoin XPY

Haha. I forgot I'd started this thread and I'm laughing at the replies :D

-API not released to any third-party exchange. You MUST use AwfulExchange.

Umm. I don't think that idea's possible, but I'm leaving it here. :)

I remember a coin that has done something similar already. It might have been H2O coin. The first wallet had a tooltip that said vertcoin. The wallet was released late due to "technical problems" which probably mean't the "dev" could not figure out how to change the tooltip.

1) 50% instamine in a few hours
2) 500 coin blocks
3) Centralization instead of Decentralization
4) Closed Source for most of it's life

Wai..Wait a minute, did I just describe Darkcoin?

Haha, you may have described most of the altcoins.
