Bitcoin Forum

Hi there,
I know that this is a Bitcoin based forum but since there is Off-topic it would be nice to make couple of others for Gamers and the programmers out there , I'am pretty sure there is a lot of them around .  Or simply add "Gaming" & "Programming" as sub sections in the Off-topic section just like we did for "Computer hardware & Digital goods" in "Goods" section . Off-topic section is just having a lot of spamming and 1 word answers .
If someone would like to see those sections , please write here so staff can see , same for those who disagree mention why ;) Open discussion guys

I really don't think there'd be enough demand for this. You can create threads in off topic and see how popular they get but I doubt they'll ever have their own subs.

There's actually been quite a bit of demanding going on for a programming section at least, but this is a Bitcoin forum after all so I'd understand there only being an off topic.

I think that is actually a pretty cool idea - there have been some bitcoin-related game projects and ideas floating around.
For online multiplayer games, bitcoin (or any other accessible cryptocurrency) would be a perfect vehicle for in-game purchases etc.
I for one would certainly follow that subforum.

Thanks for supporting the idea , yeah I know it will be nice . Looking forward to see what other people says about it and I hope Theymos or BadBear will take it seriously and add the sub forums .


This section is about "Organization of Bitcoin and related projects, bounty campaigns, advertising etc." and that's not what we are looking for , when I say Programming , I do not speak about Bitcoin project but I'am speaking about Programming in General with any project .

I'am more then sure that there is a lot of Programmers here and more of Gamers they are just not .. Idk just not motivated to post on that section maybe :o most of the programmers only make projects on Project developement . Same things goes for the Gamers , we hav ea group in Steam of Bitcointalk members with over 1.5k members made by a staff member here as far as I know .

The problem with creating sub sections like this is they often don't have much activity, and it ends up making the forum look less active and it just clogs up the main page. I've seen other forums create sub sections like this, but they had a few different ones. Although it was a big forum, there was hardly one response per day in the categories, if even that.

There has been quite a bit of demand going for all sort of boards the problem is that no one wants to experiment or test them out just assuming they would not be popular is not the best approach.
Can't remember the last time a new board was experimented with

Alright guys , since there isn't a lot of people posting here ... I decided to make a poll so who wants to see the section votes for yes and those who disagree and don't think it would be useful simply vote for "no" . I will keep the poll open for sometime

i think a lot of people here,
who have a lot of knowledge to develop app bitcoin oriented..
who are skilled on bitcoin / altCoin transactions etc etc..
but most of their, keep his knowledge for their!!!
and are not available to share it!!!

I think thag there can be a programing section but a different section for "gaming programing" isn't a really good idea.
I feel the section wont attract much attention.
And also if the admins accepts your request then everyone will start making requests for different sections. People will demand a NSFW section, someone will ask for gif section, a troll section and what not.
This would just be unnecessary.

You misunderstood OP. It's not 'gaming programming' but it is 'Gaming & Programming'. :)

Off-topic forum will have lot of sub board pretty soon - if this suggestion were to be accepted. However, I agree.. we should have a programming section. Not every programmer is programming games.. so a Programming section would do. There's no need for 'Gaming and'.

Or maybe we could have a prefix for programing in the off-topic section? Will the new forums software support prefix?

I guess most of people didn't understand me in the first place . I meant separated sub forums , one for "Gaming" and another one for "Programming" . So it's not for Programmer who code games .. of course not .

Not much demand. Also, the more sections we have the more confusion happens as to what goes where and then more moderation is needed. The best way to prove that there is demand is have very active threads on the subjects and then it becomes obvious that there is a need for one, much like what happens with the creation of Local Language sections.

+1 a programming/ PC section would be amazing.

Talk about hardware not related to just BTC, like gaming GPUS.

Also get hope with coding.

I am working on a  few things right now and advice from seasoned coders would be great.

I would also like to see a general Programming section in this forum; I feel sad every time I see a programming thread relegated to the Off-Topic section. :P

Personally, I wouldn't be as interested in a Gaming section, but by no means would I be against it either; we could use it to organize "Bitcoin teams" in every major game out there, to help spread the word. :D As an added benefit, if the section turns out to be popular by itself, it could help bring in more users directly to the forum.

I think those are two different things, and each should have its area in the forum; that is: one is a section for offering programming services, which falls under the Services section; and the other is a Programming section. In this section, people can discuss about anything related to programming, like: learning how to start with it; commenting on each others' code; asking for help solving problems and bugs; and maybe even organizing to accomplish some projects, not necessarily related to Bitcoin.

Everyone wants to help forum . Help community . The idea of gaming sub forum was good but more and more like photoshopping getting spammy here because it is irrelevant to forum (bitcoin) still if the admin made gaming section there will be threads like show your gamings rigs etc etc . Which are totally useless .

Not really, I would love to have a gaming section.

that will be a job for the moderators i guess.. but i want to see gaming section here :)

Gaming and Programming seem like sections that could maintain their demand so voted yes
