Title: BitcoinPrices.com - Bitcoin Exchange Rates
Post by: Ronin on May 23, 2011, 09:40:28 AM
Current price of bitcoins for multiple world currencies at different bitcoin exchange markets. Find the arbitrage opportunities or simply great bitcoin deals.

BitcoinPrices.com
http://bitcoinprices.com (http://bitcoinprices.com)

At the moment BitcoinPrices.com supports three major bitcoin exchange markets and top ten currencies for the countries with the biggest bitcoin traction, at least based on the google trends ;).

- MtGox
- Bitomat
- Britcoin

Soon there will be added other markets. Also providing data for the rest of currencies is not the problem if there will be such a need. The project is still in early development stage so any suggestions about its improvement and possible extension are highly appreciated.

I like it!

Do you do bitcoin arbitrage right now Ronin?

How do you use bitcoinprices.com to find the arbitrage opportunities?

Yeah partially ;). With http://bitcoinprices.com (http://bitcoinprices.com) you can easily compare at which market the current price of BTC in your own currency, depending on if you want to buy or sell,  is the best. So for instance, I use bitomat, where the price of bitcoins due to big popularity of Bitcoin in Poland, is sometimes almost 30% higher than exchange rate at MtGox. So there are arbitrage opportunities out there ;). You buy on MtGox and instantly sell in the market with less liquidity or vice versa. I think that with the new exchange markets coming into play there will be some good bitcoin deals possible.

[usual]stock market speculations dynamic hardly reflect seriously BTC value.

@Basiley

Totally agree! But not everyone has to be a value investor. Good speculation is simply fun.

amounts of "Fun" seriously depend involved entities/sides/persons/corporations/trusts/gov'ts personality/goals
for example some counter-BTC forces[from notorious banks or gov'ts to just greedy traders] can serously question BTC surival, properly organising BTC-attack&have appropriate budget 4 this.
so little intel/counter-intel in market safety interest, IMO.
w/o breaching anyone/anythingprivacy, of course and outside cyberspace[such things could be seen(indirectly), made at SUCH scale, IMO].

for example, many Americans can remember yearly XX actions, made that way just to bring US to knees. And its works, sadly :[ mayb ppl suffer/died in result, families ruined, country [nearly]collapsed.

Why is the USD row showing all ZEROs?

Also, @Ronin, I will pay you 5 btc if you add a row for Korean Won.

Cheers.

Good catch! But it's only shows for MtGox. That's a small bug that have correct today! Regarding Korean Won I will add it right now.

One small comment: time stamps without a time zone specification are virtually useless, since you can't know when "10:00" was.

Next good point added to TODO list. I'm totally aware that this a little bit rough version, but since it's public now, there is much stronger motivation to implement all needed changes :D.

@doood
Row with Korean Won added!

I'm not entirely sure I understand how the prices are determined.

Because Mt. Gox has one rate, BTC/USD, I'm assuming all the others are based on the BTC/USD then converted to the other currencies using the XE exchange rate for each.

But I know that soon Mt. Gox will have BTC/JPY and BTC/EUR:
  - http://www.bitcoinmoney.com/post/5765886176

So, will the BTC/USD be used for all other currencies except for computing BTC/JPY and BTC/EUR, with those coming straight from Mt. Gox?   Or will there be some other approach?

With TradeHill, this is the case already ... I can deposit in Chile (CLN), Peru (PEN), India (INR), USD and LR USD (they treat Liberty Reserve as its own currency).  I can withdraw in each of those as well, except for PEN which is not available for withdrawal just yet.
