Title: BTC-E Trollbox - Costly to Troll
Post by: QuantumCurrency on February 08, 2015, 02:28:54 AM
Is it just me, or is it getting expensive to troll on the BTC-E trollbox?

Where are the good ol days of 4000 people typing "rise chikun rise" and "BTC TO THE MOON" ? :(

I have to break out my LTC cold wallet just to deposit enough there to troll! Unacceptable.

They should probably institute something similar to post here.

I only semi-troll here. No full on trolling, though this post does get close. Still better than 80% of posts though, admit it.

The impressively dedicated trolls' paymasters would happily cough up. You could keep raising the price until there was no one left but them.

haha, Fonzie...

Where did Proudhon and Smoothie go? Long time no see their posts!

Also, gentlemand, you're damn straight, I'd break out whatever level of cold storage was needed to be able to troll here. BTC is no object when it comes to that.

The fact that you still own LTC means that you also like to troll yourself.  :D

Fonzie, while I won't dispute the fact I am a devoted troll, I must request you refrain from talking smack about my sweet LTC chikun.

I bought LTC when it back in 2012.... It has done well for me. I cashed out the whole way... sure, I wish I had cashed the rest at 50... but it's still ~1.70 so I'm happy. I'll hold. Doubt LTC will see 50 again, but why not find out? My precious chikun already funded starting my real world business and paid for my wife and I's dental work :D  It has fullfilled it's obligations, it can go to crypto heaven now. It's ok.

Fun fact: During my time at the trollbox my username was "LTCvictim" , so we might have met before.  ;)

haha I bet we have. I was/am highamperage on the Trollbox. Did some serious trollin' back in the good ol' days. *looks up whimsically* Remember Fontas? Remember when an altcoin could be pumped just by trollbox trolling? Remember PPC when it was only on vircurex and there were only a few altcoins, like namecoin, devcoin etc? I'm getting all nostalgic just thinking about it.

P.S. Still dealin with the 360 second limit on posts. Really pissing me off.

Depends on user level. Newbie users have really harsh restrictions, but that doesn't seem to stop trolls from making many alts.

Yes. It used to be free. I think the money requirement came in a year or so ago. You had to have a minimum balance on there to post but I don't think it was anywhere near that level.

It used to be free until the insane rise in price and popularity of bitcoin.
It was impossible to read messages at the rate they were written and dev decided to put a limit for having ability to chat there.
But this is a good thing, because there were also alot of link spamming and virus spreading which led to many account users to loose their funds.
Noone is going to risk their balance now on a off chance to infect someone, i think..

as far I use btc-e(since january 2014 or something)  you need $100 balance to chat.

Not sure if it increased because I don't log in since some time

You need to pay? what a scam. Another reason why Poloniex is the superior exchange.

How come Poloniex does not have the same trollbox spam problem? Is it because it's moderated better by full time staff? It's free to use but the rules seem fairly strict, no swearing, etc. I have witnessed a few people given a temporary ban just for swearing.

I think it's great.  In fact, I'm considering starting a petition on Bitcointalk where you have to pay for multiple accounts.  Your first would be free, but for every account after that you have to pay Theymos.  In fact, I think you should have to pay more for each new account, something like:

First: free;
Second: 0.01BTC;
Third: 0.1BTC; and
Fourth: 0.5BTC

I wonder how such a structure would impact the number of trolls on here.

Anyone think that $100 to use the trollbox is acceptable?

I do my reasons for this are while in the trollbox with quite abit of BTC worth to your name you are a candidate to get you're computer a friendly trojan, logger etc just buy clicking a link from an account that was created for this soul purpose to catch the BTC holders.

Now if it was free i could create accounts all day and keep doing it until i got bites? but if i have to pay $100 each time it suddenly becomes a big risk because chances are if a mod is on i will get banned for life and lose the $100! keep doing that it will soon add up  ;D

Great move by BTC-E also keeps for small fish writing crap and taking up valuable tips from a 'certain' few
