Title: Still holding??
Post by: liexel on February 10, 2015, 03:38:22 PM
I bought in at the downtrend at about 450. How long till this picks up again? Is it gonna happen this year?

Edit: no trolls pls

Tbh, the arguments for crypto have not changed since years or months ago. Price aside, what else is feeding the pessimism? VCs can't be that dumb to pump hundreds of millions into the tech for a zero ROI.

'Never' voters please give some reasons why you think the boom is not happening.

Back in 2011, BTC was accepted by very few merchants; The current growth of the Bitcoin economy is stunning.

People who buy more BTC now will get to enjoy seeing the price eventually jump way above the current level.
The answer is to hold and also buy more if you can afford to.

Im HODLing for my 10 and 20 year BTC plans. If you got time to HODL and money to freeze there is no better investment then BTC.

I dont hold because you cannot multiply BTC by hodling.

And because I don't know when prices will recover or fall :(

I'am not an early adopter or anything , I joined the Bitcoin community by 2014 , and I do have faith in Bitcoin
I spent about 0.8 BTC before , and now I'am doing Signature compaigns , Selling digital goods to get more Bitcoin (Full profit) and planning to keep them till the end of 2016 when the next Halving block reward happens , if nothing happens by then .. then I guess Bitcoin won't really go anywhere and I may start selling then

Unless a big news come along, I doubt it. Next year, sure once the halving happens.

I'm not sure about news being a driving factor at this point, especially given the last year's performance.  I think it will come down to speculation and/or consumer adoption.

Every time someone intentionally misspells Hold trying to be a cute trendy faggot, the price drops 1 cent.

I predict the price will rise when this meme dies.

hodlers will be the last to leave, not the first.

btw nothing wrong with adding some humor to a somewhat harsh reality (price decline). if it is not your kind of humor, just ignore.

It'll be a while, I think, before it goes back to 450$.  I think we're in for a long period of stability around 200$-300$.  Rising again perhaps at the end of the year.

I think we might get some stability once the US feds stop dumping/auctioning the silk road coins, and all the huge IPO devs (like Ethereum) stop dumping their IPO coins. Each time they dump it crashes the market. When they finally run out of coins to dump we might get stability, provided there is no new giant exchange hack that gives a hacker a huge amount of coins to dump.

We should not forget that there are 3600 BTC mined daily that(at least most of them) also get dumped. And then there is huge amount of new bagholders who will start dumpin 10´s of thousands BTC as soon as we get near 150$.

When they finally run out of coins to dump we might get stability, provided there is no new giant exchange hack that gives a hacker a huge amount of coins to dump.

As more and more coins leave the weak hands of people who expose their coins to the internet by leaving them on exchanges or online wallets, and are secured by prudent holders in offline paper wallets, the supply of dumpcoins will eventually dry up.

Even hackers will have a hard time accumulating enough coins to move the market.

Meanwhile the supply of fiat to drive the market up is pretty much unlimited.

I read it as "due by the end of 2015" - so voting that would mean a pump is expected by the end of 2015, but could occur at any time

I'm holding my coins till at least the block halving next year. I think that's a decent enough time to give bitcoin but hopefully it'll be worth much more then than it is now and the halving will push up the price because of the lower supply. If bitcoin is still going strong by then I will likely keep my coins for longer. I'll see how it goes.

Pump will be over by the end of 2015, when the halving approaches before the predicted time.

I wasn't all that impressed that the misspelling of "hold" by a drunk became such a popular meme.

I'm even less impressed that the misspelling of "loss" by an illiterate troll seems to have become an even bigger one.

Now that "hodl" has officially become passe though, I think I'll espouse it and keep it alive.

I will never 'cash out'. To do so means that I legitimize the freedom and wealth stealing fiat robber barons aka global criminal ponzi scammers and their fiat crap. I still live in the fiat world for a paychecks but I am slowly weaning off it. Once I get crypto I will only exchange it for other crypto, never for cash. Fuck the Banksters. Hence my link at the bottom!

If you really think it's going up, then you should buy now and sell at a profit on your second bet while breaking even on your first. If you are not sure or if you don't want to put more money at risk, sell now. A $200 loss is tolerable.

You just don't even seem to have enough skin in the game to keep it interesting.
