Title: [WTS] - Toronto/Montreal - Spondoolies-Tech SP31 units, shipped from colocation
Post by: klondike_bar on February 10, 2015, 07:59:48 PM
For sale:

I can supply SP31 units that are currently hosted in Montreal,QC for $1850 USD+shipping (cheaper if you want more than one). At low power these can be acceptable for home use, but anything over 75% PSU load they start getting loud. (at about 65% load they are similar to an SP20 at 20-25% fan speed)

I can probably even sell the colocation slot to you (you buy the miner and take over the colocation (its about $100/kw/month + tax))

1/$1850
2/$3600 ($1800 ea)
4/$7100 ($1750 ea)
7/$11,900 ($1700 ea)
prices are in USD
right now 7 units are available

Units ship from Montreal, and pickup in montreal or toronto can likely be arranged.

hmm, well im open to offers. Im helping a friend sell them so its not me setting the price. Ive updated the OP with slightly lower prices to try and keep realistic, but considering that the SP31 is basically 4xSP20 with built-in 2500W of power supplies, being about 4.5-5x the cost of an SP20 makes sense

Except for the fact new is $300 cheaper.  In fact, I could buy one new, not open it, and sell it for less than your price and still make a $100!

$1700 is a more realistic price.

I just ordered 6 SP20 direct from them, for $3050 CAD.
That's nearly 10T/Hash

So I'd agree $1500-1700 is about all he is going to see, and that's CAD.
Especially for used gear, which could of been run over clocked for the last how many months.

you're talking about 10TH/7kw (wall) though.  The Sp31 performs around 4.7-4.9TH/2.8-3.0kW (wall) so is noticably more efficient, and as mentioned includes a pair of high-end server power supplies.

I'm open to offers, but the price wont be as low as your $1500-1700 cad - sorry

you should probably try eBay if you want to get those prices.

The reality is used miners are like used cars.  As soon as you use them, they lose value, and you won't be able to get as much for them as you'd like.  As stated above, the hardware could be abused and in poor condition.

i think its actually quite different. used miners are virtually no different from new, other than successfully logging weeks or months of use without issues. There might be a bit of dust inside that a new miner wont have, but otherwise its the same product. I understand these wont sell for more than a new unit, but dont expect them to be at clearance prices

Someone just sold some SP30s here for 3.8 BTC, thats not far from what you can get from here.  You should try eBay to sell at those higher prices.  I'll offer you 4 BTC here for one with OGNasty as escrow.

There must have been something wrong with them.  3.8 is way too low for SP30s.

If I had the coin, I'd offer the equiv of $1700 shipped.

The car you just drove off the lot is really no different from new technically either.  But it immediately depreciated..

I think its going to be possible to sell them for a price just a little higher than that, but only for large purchases. Im hoping to get a new asking price and instock quantities later today since it seems that $1800-1900+shipping isnt getting as many bids as expected.

If the Canadian Dollar wasn't so sucky right now, 1700usd per would be fair. That's $2150CAD :( Plus Shipping...

Yep, too expensive for what it is (used) unfortunately.

I really want to pick one up, especially since it's in Montreal, so hopefully your friend decides on a more reasonable price before I end up buying something else.

GLWS!

I said it before, ill say it again - its used, but it spent its life in the best possible home.
-shipped on its own pallet(s) straight to the DC
-installed in an actual DC (AC cooling systems, dust-free environment, and virtually zero downtime)
- have operated without issue for months
- will ship from the DC and local pickup is available

There's no real reason to believe that these fully-tested units should be any more prone to failure than a new unit from spondoolies-tech that costs almost $2100 USD + shipping +shipping time. If you're local thats another $100+ saved on shipment costs

I'm not in a rush to sell these, but I am willing to be flexible on the prices if you make a strong offer.

oh yes - i was trying to dig up the emails but i cleared out my backlog of kijiji replies not long ago. IIRC, the datacenters (or at least the guy (R.) who has the machines in a specific colocation contract) were different.

maybe i would take 1.  I am in the usa do i get access to a log in if I keep it in canada and let you host it.

if I run the miner at 3600 setting and it uses 1900 watts I pay 200 a month to host it?

I will check whats possible - I know remote access is available (I use it), but have to check if its available for singular-unit owners as im not familiar with the details.

its around $110-115 cad/kw/mos IIRC, so 190-200 USD for 1900W (wall) sounds right.

I'm very tempted. PayPal?
Maybe save shipping and put some cables in the box as well for me? Hmm

cant do cables in the box - simply isnt space in the SP31 box

paypal should be possible, as long as there's no risk of chargebacks or w/e. Though I prefer to do larger transactions with Bitcoin (escrow is totally fine if you contact and bring forward a reputable provider (theres a subforum for them, ognasty has a good track record), and cover the escrow fees yourself)

These actually won't be in montreal much longer as whatever isnt liquidated to pay the power bills will be moved west to a slightly cheaper DC.

I'm open to offers to buy 3+ units at a fair price, as we need the BTC/fiat liquidity

You should try to sell these on eBay. You should get a pretty good price for them there.

I hate ebay. The 10% fees, the paypal, and the often-terrible-to-implement shipping rules. Last time i sold something on ebay i got shafted of >$20 because of a mistake in the shipping rules

that said, its an option. But ive got a lot of interest just below the current asking prices so I am pretty confident ill have a deal hammered out this week.

I'd take one if you could match Spondoolies price per unit of $366 per 1.6 TH. If not I'd be better off buying their mini-farm deal in a group buy.

In Canada I'd likely save 600-700 on these, what would shipping a single unit to winnipeg cost? Or maybe three, I'll talk to my partners.

I'm holding onto my current gear pretty tightly, the spondoolies run without oversight for weeks or months at a time :)
