Title: Slush's Pool - Reward not allocated!! System broken?
Post by: roxcm on February 13, 2015, 01:05:29 PM

So, if I've understood correctly, we should get:
(25 BTC + block fees - 2% fee) * (shares found by user's workers) / (total shares in current round)

... although it's a bit more complex because shares can be old/stale. But typically the above is about right, right?

So when I get 338/6146035632 I get 0.00000118 - sounds OK.

But when I get 0/8540645283 I get 0.00000005 - a reward for finding no shares... huh?

BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY -
when I get 6741/198100194879 I get NOTHING!!

That seems broken to me...

It has happened twice in consecutive blocks - I also got nothing for 2128/65373512747

Can anyone explain? I'm starting to think I should maybe move...

Back to Slush's pool support thread, right?  Most pool support is through Pools support threads here on Bitcointalk.org

For anyone that does find this thread the answer is clearly documented.  Slush uses a score based reward system. Read this. http://support.bitcoin.cz/Knowledgebase/Article/View/32/1/score-based-reward-system

You can find the info here also, if the other link doesn't work.  :)   http://beta.mining.bitcoin.cz/user-manual/rewards

You need to be aware, Slush pool does NOT pay for shares. You are payed for efforts if you are mining WHEN a block is found. You can assist the pool with 10thash for 10hrs and no block is found but you contributed xxxxxxx shares to the pool. If you switch your miner off, after 1.5hrs you will be earning nothing if a block is found. If a block is found within 30 mins of you turning your miner off you get a small reward but not the full reward.

It is a harsh payment method to maybe try stop pool hopping and keep miners on the pool, but it is effective. I know the rules there, I stick to my 10hrs a day as that is all I can afford to run. If I'm mining when a block is found, sweet, if its cracked when I am off, so be it.
