Title: [Advice] Cycling payout addresses for pool mining
Post by: alcexhim on February 13, 2015, 05:15:59 PM
Hello,

Forgive me if this is a total noob question, but I have not seen any mention of it on this forum.

It is generally understood that we should use a new address for receiving different transactions (for privacy reasons, etc.)

Does this mean that we should use a new address in our pool configuration each time the pool issues a payout? What are the best practices in the community for this?

I personally like the idea of using a different address for each *unique* location the coins come from, as it helps to know how much "profit" is coming from particular areas (for instance, use one address for donations, another for business, yet another for mining payouts).

However, is it recommended (or beneficial, at all)  to use different addresses for the same sender?

I look forward to hearing the thoughts the community has on this topic. Thank you for your time, and happy mining!

Yes the unique purpose to change address (each payment you will receive) is : the privacy. If you want to keep your price you should use a new address every transaction and collect the various addresses in one wallet (but make payments from a single address).

Thanks redsn0w! That does raise another question though... if all the addresses I generate are getting paid by the same pool, and I have to have an account on that pool to mine, wouldn't the transactions (even coming from different addresses) be traceable back to that pool and, therefore, to my registered user name?

Also, you said "make payments from a single address" - if it's important to cycle RECEIVING addresses to maintain privacy, why is it not also important to cycle SENDING addresses?

I have read through various posts on the forum and the Bitcoin FAQ but it seems I'm still a bit unclear on some concepts. I apologize in advance if I accidentally missed something important ^^;

Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it :)
