Title: So which Exchange will be the next to run away?
Post by: twister on February 16, 2015, 05:43:32 AM
It's getting so easy, isn't it?

Make a good looking website with a nice script, advertise about it for a while on how GOOD their security is and not even Gods could penetrate if they wanted.

Keep running it well for a while to gain people's trust, do instant withdrawals, add new coins, announce few security improvements, reward affiliates... etc etc

And then when people are all in over their heads.

BAM!!!!

# sorry we got hacked.  :-[
@ What?, I thought you were secure??
# We were, we're investigating, we think it was an inside job.
@  :-\ What will happen to my money??
# ----------
@ Hello?..  :'(

This is the typical routine, then they buy even fancy domain, even fancier script since they're rich now and start with a new name again.

So my question is, in your Expert Opinion, "which exchange will be the next to get hacked/run-away ?"

I don't know which will be the new hacked exchange, the only thing that I know is : don't keep your money on an exchange, make the "exchang" and withdraw fast your coins.

You're absolutely right! and I don't but I don't day-trade either.

after all the mess with bter bobsurplus and bitbay, anybody would have to be a fool to leave any money on bter. if an exchange will make a coin give them to p&d groups use fake btc to look like people are buying the ico then they will definately steal btc and run off.  ::)

Those exchange website should simply use 2 Factor Authentification with Multisig . and they should be fine
If I had to choose I would say it's Allcoin or Justcoin .

Hope Bitcoin as decentralised p2p currency will get decentralised exchange soon, having middle man is allways risky. I guess most of exchanges will get hacked or become scam at some point.

But how that should work exactly ? Decentralised Peer to peer exchange website ?
Won't that mean more scams ? because the current exchangers have less scamming because people should provide ID or passport photo .

Which exchanger? I no longer trust any of them. Keep your bitcoin in your own wallet where no one has access to them. Any money left in exchanger is not your money until this is transferred to your wallet

the topic is about exchanges being hacked and running away with people's money, not about people using the site for money laundering or whatever. I can't see how require ID has something to do with it.

Even if has, docs always can be faked.

Seems like the smaller exchanges would always be most likely to get "hacked".   Seems really fishy right after we went on a price run.

I think it is pretty pathetic, saying this while at the same time running an ad for some exchange in your signature...

About the same as all dumbies here screaming about thieves stealing coins while at the same time for some measly bits running promotions of a mixing service which most probably was created by one of the thieves to launder their money ;) Oh humanity.

If they just been hacked, then I will trust them as before, I doubt if they deliberately produce some negative news to control the market
