Title: bootstrap the BBQcoin economy
Post by: wormbog on July 26, 2012, 05:20:41 PM
Let's bootstrap the BBQcoin economy, people! I mined 462 delicious BBQcoins this very morning (thanks reaper!). Who wants to buy some? Or trade for hot sauce?

Hmmm, I had burritos for both lunch *and* dinner yesterday. I can confirm that it's actually possible to eat too many burritos.

But, I'll be glad to send you 20 BBQC just for the kind offer. Just post an address if you want 'em.

It'll have to wait a few hours for me to get home though.

It seems kind of wasteful, since it uses the same hash type as litecoin but cannot be merged-mined alongside litecoin. Without the ability to merge they are each weaker by however much hashing power people put into the other. The two should be merge-able; until they are one or both is likely to be half as strong as it could be.

Why can't they be merged mined?

I must have missed this part...

By the author's own admission, BBQcoin is play money. It's for entertainment only. I don't think there's any danger of it taking any significant hashing power away from Litecoin.

In fact, I'd love to see a generic version of SatoshiDice that would work with the remaining alt-currencies... BBQ, I0, Ix, LQC, DVC, etc. They're worth so little, why not gamble with them? Or use them to settle stupid bets. Or to pay for crazy requests. Such as:

I WILL PAY 1000 BQC TO THE PERSON WHO POSTS THE CUTEST PIC OF A KITTEN OR KITTENS TO THIS THREAD.

Thread participants can vote for the cutest.

...or, if anyone wants to give away some delicious BBQcoins, send 'em to me at:

I promise they will be squandered in the most entertaining way I can think up.

Let's bootstrap the BBQcoin economy, people!

Why? It's a pointless fork of BitCoin. It has nothing going for it.

Just use BitCoin, in very small amounts if that's all you can afford.

Ever play Monopoly (tm) ? Do you use real money or do you use Monopoly money?

It's Monopoly money that mirrors bitcoins for the masses. I can sell my monopoly money in bundles or buy new bundles at a game shop , that's about its total sum value.
