Title: BitcoinQT: solo mining / server mode? Post by: Qu4k3r on July 26, 2012, 07:51:37 PM Hi,
I used to do solo mining from time to time with GUIminer and btc client v0.3.24 as follows: * solo utilities -> Create solo password. (to create my username & pass) * solo utlities -> Set bitcoin client path. * solo utilities -> Launch bitcoin client as server. (with btc client previously closed) * file -> new miner -> new openCL miner. (name this miner: solo) * miner tab settings -> server:solo, host:localhost, port:8332, user:myusername, pass:mypassword * start mining! In fact I solved 2 blocks a year ago, just doing small attemps of 30min per day solo mining ;D 1st block solved mining with gtx570 @ 115 MHs with 1.380M difficulty 2nd block solved mining with hd5830 @ 275 MHs with 1.780M difficulty http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/5646/bloqued.th.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/689/bloqued.jpg/) http://img560.imageshack.us/img560/1706/bloque2.th.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/560/bloque2.jpg/) Well, I can conclude that solve a block with solo mining is not impossible.- I want to try a lucky shot again ::) But now, I don't know how to run/launch BitcoinQT (btc client v0.3.6) as server. It can't be launched using GUIminer like I used to do with v0.3.24 Is it possible to solo mining with BitcoinQT? If it can be done, so I really appreciate a foolproof guide step by step. Thanks in advance.- Title: Re: BitcoinQT: solo mining / server mode? Post by: Aseras on July 28, 2012, 12:41:59 PM It's the same. Add -server to the shortcut , run the daemon in the daemon folder or add the server=1 in the bitcoin.conf

I have other doubts. #1) Can I run 2 or more btc clients in server mode on my home network? or there is problem? or maybe I'm missing/forgetting something? #2)Is it better run only one btc client as server on my home network and point all my workers to the pc which is running server mode? for example... (host:192.168.1.2:8332, user:myusername, pass:mypassword) Title: Re: BitcoinQT: solo mining / server mode?
