And their main target was the secular Assad government, not the religious Shiite Hezbollah. The GCC Arabs wanted to replace the secular government in Syria with a fanatic one, just like what they did in Iraq. Israel joined the GCC Arabs, since they wanted to finish off the Hezbollah (which is indirectly supported by Assad).
