Since when would governments offer insurance. That would be up to insurances companies wouldn't it? Regardless, bitcoin users will increase over time and so will services and products to help you  secure or insure your coins.

Oh definitely. Having a backing sure helps. Maybe some form of regulation whereby if there is a claim of bankruptcy due to hacks, a proper investigation can be conducted. Also if there is a requirement to have accounting audit to maintain credibility that would certainly give that level of confidence to the users.

Mmm nah , not really.
If Media starts speaking about Bitcoin goods instead of speaking about drugs and weapons (Silk road) and simillar bullshits that would increase the number of Bitcoiners . Most of people see it as a danger and scam .

insurers yes

reason: government stop activity/freedoms, whilst insurance protect against loss.

im all for consumer protection, just not government limitations

Though an insurance is good but being given by government means no anonymity , and am not trading bitcoin with their help
