What does this mean for bitcoin?

Nothing at all. Thieves take valuable things.  Bitcoin is valuable. Nothing new there.

Do you think Bitcoin has reached so far that one have to steal the cryptocurrency physically?

It's been happening for years.  Thieves will take things using any method they can.

Do you think Bitcoin is nearing the mainstream acceptance?

Just because someone was robbed?  That's a strange way to determine "mainstream acceptance".

They can money, they can rob gold, why rob bitcoin?

That means something right?

Maybe robbers now can easily dispose bitcoin and turn into cash.

yeah bitcoin has value, but not as valuable as an iphone or cash. You know what I mean.

Because they can.  Why not.

That means something right?

It means that someone familiar with bitcoins decided that it was easier to threaten someone than to try to hack them.

Maybe robbers now can easily dispose bitcoin and turn into cash.

Or maybe they just wanted the bitcoins, and didn't want to pay for them.

yeah bitcoin has value, but not as valuable as an iphone or cash. You know what I mean.

I think you are mistaken. The thieves managed to take $8,000 worth of bitcoins.  I don't know of any iPhone worth $8000, or anybody that carries $8,000 cash around with them.

This just means you don't trade bitcoin in the local subway, or back alley. Trade in the local library, local shopping center police lobby etc. If you aren't doing something illegal there is no need to hide it and you will be comfortable. If the other party wants to do something illegal and you suggest a location like this, well you know to call off the deal and walk away.

At least it shows people value bitcoin as much as fiat and they are willing to risk their lives for the sake of bitcoin. If it has no value or worth, people won't take that kind of risk. Apart of all these, there's nothing to show it has anything to do with moving towards mainstream adoption.

How do you want to feel?  Do you want to think Bitcoin is dirty money?  That it's so dangerous to hold, that evil thieves will barge down your doors and rob your Bitcoin at gunpoint?

Is this some type of fear mongering tactic by you?  Nah, just playing.   :P

...IS IT?!! >:(

Thieves steal everything that has value. It's not that they specifically search for Bitcoin.

Gold and silverware can also be turned into hard cash without being noticed.

Agreed. He is a firefighter for christ-sake. He shouldve done the trade in their headquarters.

Same thing happened in 1849 and again when paper was introduced... any new money will be the target of criminals.

Except the old timers of 1849, if you stole from someone, you'd get killed... government still usign the same old coups to gain control.

Today it's hard killing someone who don't live on the same continent as you and government can't control all that is digital.

There were thieves, murderers and crooks every since the dawn of time, don't blame Bitcoin for centuries of thievery.

Nope! they can't get anything like that , if they are raiding a home , they would go for fiat and jewels
