There will be an upcoming documentary based on the 'legendary' underground marketplace Silk Road. EPIX, a premium entertainment channel has released a teaser about the documentary and its called - Deep Web.

The court has decided. He is guilty. Indeed.

He surely broke a few laws but the way the federal investigation was conducted was very fishy.

Going to jail or court deciding that someone is guilty dosen't make someone guilty at all .
He is simply guilty if he did what he is accused off . court can be wrong sometimes you know

A bunch of crooks on the take and highly motivated to perpetuate the current system found him guilty. That verdict means nothing to me. They didn't even prosecute the actual drug dealers. No, they went after the guy running the website. U.S. Law enforcement are a large collection of impotent pussies.

Pretty exciting this thing.
I love to see James McAvoy play Ulbricht in a full length film.

Looks like a very interesting doc, can't wait to see it!  Hopefully bitcoin gains some popularity from it.

I wish that someone could make a doc about how good BTC is instead of showing off the neg sides of BTC all the time.
That is what I hear from people who does not know much about BTC.

They think its all bad because of silk road and some of the big scams.

what we really need is rather a doc about bitcoin ... BTC have to appear as main character.

This documentary looks promising, will be checking it out once it is released on the web. It can give some negative feedback about bitcoin, but in the end with the other recent good shows concerning bitcoin I am sure it will just going to balance out.

Judging by this "The Deep Web documentary will be shown first on World Television by Spring this year.", maybe there will be more bad news to throw dirt on bitcoin,
but the documentary itself seams like its revealing "the full story" about gouvernment opression (even tho hes guilty,its not like he even stood a chance to defend himself), and alot of people are sick and tired of feeling attacked, therefore i belive the effect of documentary will proove itself positive on bitcoin, people will start talking about it more, and
some portion will get involved definetly.

just had a look at the trailer. from what i see it looks great. quite detailed.
only wish the release would be a bit sooner.
also, isn't silkroad the first successful "merchant" ever in bitcoin?

Silk Road Documentary. Will be interesting to see if they actually finish this off and see how the plot unfolds to how it was started how got away so long and made a simple mistake and poof in prison but places like silk road do nothing but damage BTC with the amount of illegal activities that where on silk road. Some of the things where good to buy but 90% of items and products where iver stolen illegal to buy and well I didn't buy anything on it due to the amount of posts I seen of people getting ripped off and scammed.

Sure will be interesting to see what is actually said and what unfolds in the documentary. Looking forward to it.

The sad thing is, I dont think Ross Ulbricht would get anything out of this. As it would considered as a financial gain from his supposed 'criminal' activity.

Great stuff, I always enjoy documentaries on Bitcoin, I liked very much the CNN one, I still haven't seen the rise and rise of bitcoin because its kind of a fail now that the price is lower and lowering.

This is one documentary I won't miss.  :)

Info in opening post is misleading a bit, as I understood the full documentary movie about Silkroad is available now, and it is only a teaser for now, short trailer. Nonetheless it is a good premise and I would gladly watch it now. And I love how it is not about selling drugs and rather to make political statement. I hope full movie will be available on youtube soon.

Info in title, not in opening post. Text in opening post is somewhat suggesting that whole movie is out already, which is not the case here.

Omg I have been wating for years to get such a documentary.
I tried to search the web all the time, however every posters says something different and its hard to follow the facts.
I will definately watch the movie!

Ross ulbricht was actually a very smart dude and the amount of technical and financial knowledge required to accomplish something like the silk road is quite impressive. Although he did make some stupid mistakes it's understandable considering he was one of the first to do something like this. People have learned a lot from ulbrichts mistakes and new dark net markets are safer because of it.

You can be very smart yet still stupid. You've also got to be more than just academically intelligent to run these sorts of markets. You need to be cunning and make sure you've covered your tracks. I'm looking forward to this documentary but it seems biased and made from the side that he's not responsible for Silk Road.

When will be the release? And where can I watch this?

I'm interested in seeing this especially from what angle they take. Hope they present the info in a neutral fashion and present all the evidence impartially  like a good documentary should.

If only there was some website that would let you search for this sort of information. I think if one was created it could become worth billions of dollars and think of how helpful it would be.

From the trailer it seems to be all from the pro-Ross camp and his family saying how he couldn't possibly be involved, but we now know he was because he admitted it. That could put a whole new spin on the documentary unless they added an extra bit to it after the triak.


Why's that? Are you saying there is something in this documentary that is evidence of his innocence?

He could have start an other legal start-up or go build SR in an other country.

I suppose he could have set up SR in a worse location. He could have tried to find empty office space somewhere near 935 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C. although most of us would have chosen possibly Bhutan or Cuba.

Would it be shown on national tv or will it be available for download only?

Do we need more spotlight on that subject? {It just gives the shills and trolls and bitcoin haters more ammunition to attack Bitcoin}

I hope the documentary are biased and not one sided .... If they mess this up, it could do more harm than good.

So what is next? Full lenght movie and a box office success? {You think we need that now?}  ???

Will this be released on national tv or will it be directly be available online?

When will be the release again?
I hope youtube will be quick enough to upload it on their platform.

I hope Ross will get some money out of this.
