My wife and I have started the process of buying our first home. Of course, we're excited, but I'm also excited about paying off the mortgage early. I'm hoping to use my BTC income to make an extra payment each month.

I'm simply going to use btc to supplement the mortgage payment. I'll be making the regular payments with my full-time job, but seriously reducing the length of the mortgage with extra payments from bitcoin income. Even with an extra $100 each month the mortgage will be reduced by four years.

I had an extra bitcoin each week coming in from LTCG. I can't count for that now :(

But it is definitely a bitcoin related discussion. It shouldn't be in here. It is great to see that some people are advanced to the point of being able to afford house for bitcoin. I have a question don't you worry that it will be better to hold bitcoin for later instead of buying house with it?

Wow !! Buying a house from BTC something rare and glad to hear of.

Just so everyone is clear, the point is not to pay for the house completely with BTC, rather to reduce the duration of the mortgage and to save on interest. Both my wife and I work, and our combined incomes allow for the regular, monthly mortgage payments. My goal is to reduce the duration of the mortgage from 30 years to 15 years, and to save over $100,000 in interest. If I am able to reach, and sustain, my goal of 5 BTC each month, that extra payment will allow me to reach the mortgage goals.

Thank you to everyone who showed interest. I hope this catches on and proves that BTC CAN be used for something in the real world.

WOW if you can buy a house with your bitcoin earnings, this is really something amazing :)
I guess some people was lucky to join this opportunity very early, as first users, and could collect some good amount of bitcoin almost free, and now they are very rich.
Wish I could have such luck.

The title should say reduce the duration of a mortgage with bitcoin.

I heard about one house someone bought for bitcoin in South America, and there's a bitcointalk thread started by someone who sold a house in North America. Its very rare you hear about a whole house paid for with bitcoin though.
