Post by: Dabangg on February 26, 2015, 07:50:14 PM
What email provider do you use? What do you like about it?

I have been using Gmail since 2008, Yahoo since 2006, and also have an Outlook.com account.

Used to use gmx, but that got me hacked here.
If somebody still uses gmx, switch now!

Running your own server is not a bad idea. The learning experience and freedom that goes with it is great.

But not everyone has the time for that. Or experience. I would still like to do that though. But I'm still using gmail for now.

I'm using hotmail since 2005 and I've never had any problems. I had some gmx/web/gmail accounts, but I didn't like it, hotmail/outlook is just so handy and easy to use.

I use a few but gmail and zoho stand out for security.

Zoho has no advertisements or targeted ads. I never receive suspicious spam like I do in gmail. If I do mark something as spam it stays spam unlike gmail.

I use gmail for many years which seems to do a decent job.

Some people don't like it regarding their privacy, but you should never leave sensitive data in your mail box.

I use gmail but I use mail.com as well.

mail.com's interface is pretty poor, I used it just because that I like the domain name.

I have waay too many;

Primarily, I use A me.com address from Apple

Then I've got a bunch of domains using Outlook.com as their email host (back when it was free to sign up to do so)

A "legacy" yahoo address

A gmail address, along with a bunch of other accounts for their other services (webmaster tools, Adsense, etc)

My iPhone and Mail.app both consolidate all of the inboxes, so when im reading email I don't miss anything, nor am I ever 109% sure what address a given email was sent to

My roommate just launched a business though, so ill probably chat with him about switching over to business service, should that happen, I'll probably move some of the outlook accounts to being hosted here instead.

what do you mean with "legacy" yahoo address?
and from those bunch of emails, which provider do you think is the best?

I call it legacy because its one of my earliest addresses. Don't ever seem to get anything but spam there anymore...

And of all of those, I'd say that Outlook.com is "best".

It's got the standard IMAP/SMTP plus webmail as everyone else, and I'm taking Microsoft at their word that they're not scanning my inbox and building a profile all about me - they've got an extremely profitable business model selling software after all, whereas G's model is centered on learning as much about us as possible. So that's a personal preference. Plus you get OneDrive (ala iCloud drive and Google drive), and a very clean webmail interface.

I also like apples, but realize that it's a no-go for all of those that own their products...

Gmail, I tjink, has the most obtuse interface of them all, but that's just personal preference. Their inbox scanning and targeted ads are also against my personal preference...

I personally think that outlook's design isn't my style, so I'll go for Gmail.

Doesn't matter if you leave it there for a second or for ten years, they scan your emails contents the moment it arrives on their servers.

Used hotmail for a long time but all the rumours and annoying changes ( read advertisements which you could not block) let me switch to gmail.
If there would be a better solution i would switch easily
Everything is better than using provider email, especially because i switch fast if i think i get a better contract ( read faster for less ) elsewhere
