Title: giftoff.com
Post by: TeamDisaster on February 27, 2015, 12:15:19 PM
This seems quite a promising site for UK-based BTC owners to convert their Bitcoin into something more easily usable on the high street.  Has anyone used it?  Do they deliver what they promise?

Looks like they have some interesting things like Skype available, which is really nice. If they sold a Visa/Mastercard/AmEx gift card that would be a real advantage, but this is a good start and it's nice to have lots of competition in the gift card for BTC arena.

I'm just a little wary of it... maybe I'll try doing a very low value Amazon.co.uk gift voucher and see what happens.  I will of course report back here!

Okay, it's pretty quick and easy to use.  I ordered the minimum value Amazon.co.uk voucher as a test, it arrived in a few minutes.  Looking good so far!

Gift Off is the new name for pock.io who have been around for a while.  I've used them loads in the past with no issues what-so-ever.

Another good site for UK gift cards is https://www.cryptodechange.com/

They're usually quite a bit slower (Sometimes takes half a day or so) than giftoff, but usually cheaper, and they offer a points reward system (Effectively money off your next purchase).

This site looks awesome, thanks so much for pointing it out!   :D

-EDIT- They do NANDO'S gift cards!!!  That's it, I'm sold.

If I had to comment of the site itself, I would say its a little simple looking and rather static.

If you're talking about giftoff.com I would definitely agree.

Could also apply to cryptodechange.com although not as much, but I've just tried the latter and have to say that I'm very impressed with their customer service.

Hey guys, Gift Off co-founder here. Thanks for your comments. Just wondering what you mean by static? As for simple looking, that was our aim - to make it as quick and easy as possible to buy gift cards.  ;D

It's a simple clean design (and crucially the ordering definitely works!) - I guess it's just that maybe you might expect the options to highlight on mouseover.  (I appreciate that the options below below for "More Info" and "Buy Now" do have a subtle mouseover highlight.  May be more of a social comment on how busy other sites look than a criticism of yours!  ;D

You make some valid points, we are actually working on some new features that will (should) blow people's socks off.

We are always keen on hearing what the community has to say as you are what has allowed us to grow over the last year.

Actually I think the feature I would like most would be to send BTC to my giftoff account balance and use that to later buy gift cards, rather than have to send to a new wallet each time.

Just thought I'd mention...
Used Giftoff.com yesterday for quite a sizeable Amazon voucher and it all seems to have gone through fine and quickly.

Website is a little buggy though. When I registered it took me back to the registration page and not a confirmation page, and the confirmation email took some time to arrive.

I've used giftoff many times now, and only once had a payment issue where the Bitpay invoice expired before confirmations of transaction - Bitpay sorted it out in 24 hours.

The site design is clean and simple - well done - it works too  ;D

Look forward to new features as and when they are ready to roll out.
