Title: What is a "likely scam" for you ? Post by: Madness on February 27, 2015, 02:44:13 PM Hi,
I'am sorry but I don't get it . "Warning: You are in the Gambling section. You are likely to eventually lose any money that you gamble/"invest". Additionally, moderators do not remove likely scams. You must use your own brain: caveat emptor. Do not gamble more than you can afford to lose." We got it . staff members don't remove likely scams .. But how about scams ? BTC-Flow is a full pure 100% scam => https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=950011.0 , OP didn't connect since one week and anyone who invested didn't get his money back as the website claimed . I don't see how this is a likely scam . Its a confirmed scam and should be removed . ~ Madness Title: Re: What is a "likely scam" for you ? It is a simple rule "Caveat emptor" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caveat_emptor). Title: Re: What is a "likely scam" for you ? Post by: Madness on February 27, 2015, 02:53:50 PM So they basically don't remove confirmed scams and don't remove likely scam if I got it right ? correct ?

Everyone is free to "invest" his money and lose them, it is present the warning so everyone have also been warned. Title: Re: What is a "likely scam" for you ? Thanks for the explanation mate ;) ~ Madness Title: Re: What is a "likely scam" for you ? Post by: Alask1952 on February 27, 2015, 03:09:57 PM :( It is really upsetting that scammers don't get banned and are allowed roam free. Look at moriartybitcoin. :(

Look at moriartybitcoin. :( Would you rather them get banned so they just come back on another account? Nothing to stop them doing that anyway but banning them won't do any good and moriartybitcoin very likely isn't going to scam anyone again with his trust. Title: Re: What is a "likely scam" for you ? That system was removed some 10 months ago, in favor of the Trust system we have today. So, not only are they not given out anymore, but even old accounts that used to have them no longer do - instead, the admin-controlled OldScammerTag account has marked them with negative trust (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=330472 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=330472)). Title: Re: What is a "likely scam" for you ? Post by: u9y42 on March 03, 2015, 01:44:46 PM What you said above is true except negative trust. I can't see a single negative trust on OldScammerTag's profile. I think you though the 'Sent' feedback are on that profile. ::) -MZ I think you misread my post: I wasn't suggesting the OldScammerTag account was marked with negative trust - that would make no sense in the context of my reply. Rather, what I said was that, that is an admin-managed account, and that it was tasked with marking those who used to have the Scammer Tag with negative trust, now that the Tag is gone. We aren't here to protect your coins. When users opt into crypto, they agree to a certain level of financial responsibility, ie to protect their keys and their wallets through their actions. The trust system is what is used to handle scammers and likely scammers, and that is left up to users. In addition to that, we don't have the manpower to track down and persecute all scammers, we don't necessarily want to, because being a scammer doesnt mean that you aren't an active participant in conversations, or that they wont pay it back at some later date, etc. Sounds strange, but it has happened a few times before. Best course of action is to mark scammers/potential scammers when you see them so that no one has an unpleasant surprise. If people want to not heed warnings, and put themselves in a situation where they get scammed, well its their right to have their money parted from them, and learn a lesson hopefully. Title: Re: What is a "likely scam" for you ? Post by: steveturk on March 03, 2015, 10:38:53 PM i don't think scam posts should be removed, i understand people have lost money to scammers and i feel bad for them, but banning and removing the posts won't help. In fact I am sure just as many people were saved from losing their money by reading posts where others may have been scammed.
I do however think that all ponzi, hyip, faucets spitting dust etc should be grouped on one board and let them fight each other for virtually no ones attention. |
