Hey Bitcoin talk.

So... As the title says.. How did you get into this wonderful world?

I made my first investment back in November 2013 into Goldcoin.
I invest around 20$ of BTC into it, and I managed to pump the value of it from 0.0053$ to 0.18$ that I sold at.
Which gave me 666.666$ profit... Such a funny number when you think about it! xD

It was not my intention to pump it like that, but I had no knowledge of the cryptoworld.

I was argueing with some users from the GLD community and I was pissed, so I sold out and the days after it crashed hard in price.

I was hooked when I got that big of a profit.

Thats how I got in.

Just before christmas a friend was telling me how he could buy weed from a place called silkroad so i took a look with him and was hooked on the technology, it is amazing how it can bring freedom to those that use it. It bypasses the control that the banks have and that is the biggest selling point for me personally. Now i am here i will be here until the blockchain gives out it's last transaction or when i give me last breath whichever comes sooner i guess. A roller coaster ride only us bitcoiners know the feeling of.

I actually forgot to tell why I got into bitcoin.

Well, I heard about it somewhere around 2012 but thought it was funny money.
I read some news items about bitcoin a few times and still thought it was funny money.
Then early 2013 I read a news article (http://tweakers.net/nieuws/87328/mega-accepteert-bitcoin-betalingen-en-hint-op-mobiele-toegang.html) about Mega.co.nz accepting bitcoin for payments.

I took exactly 10 days to read everything about bitcoin and become convinced and bought some (CHEAP!) coins.

Since then it's all unicorns

Late 2013, that is what it is all about the 'community' we are all crazy but also wide awake and understand this world in ways 75% of the world do not. Like minded people on the same journey when we all understand that and actually join forces and help each other that is the day when the outside world will pay attention to this awesome tech. There is so much to laugh about lurking about this forum i do get a lot of laughs aha, that is right me neither i will be honest to begin with i could not stop following the price but now i only know the price when someone posts about a small rise of loss i am passed what the price is doing i guess because we have invested what we can afford to lose..

No, I hate fiat and try to convert as much of it into bitcoin and hope to never have to deal with euros ever again in my life.

All people who 'invest' in bitcoin to earn dollars or euros are a bunch of morons in my opinion.
Yes, i did trade some, but only to get more bitcoins.

The moment I got rid of some coins was when I spent them on goods (beer/food/electronics).
I do not regret that I spent them, I made sure that I bought them back the next day for stinking fiat.

Bitcoin will never become worthless for me because it learned me the most important lessons of my life.
It doesn't matter if someone is willing to trade them for goods and services one day, I already got some priceless knowledge due to bitcoin.

Fiat is controlled by banks and government and it can screw you over if they want to.

That can not happen with BTC.

I started getting serious in crypto roughly about the time when this account was created. And during that initially period I was more interested in quark rather than bitcoin. Was basically attracted about how fast the confirmation time is, the security, no cap limit, but after having seen the internal squabbling within the community itself, I just decided to leave. And I think I've made the right choice.

Hmm... I jump from coin to coin depending on the devs and how serious they are about heir coin idea and good they work on their projects.

i saw @ some PTC websites that 'accepted bitcoinss' so i've tried to know about bitcoins and now interacted with it :P

Hmm... PTC.. I did those back in 2013 and I made like 7$ and invested 20$.. So a loss of 13$ and a lot of time..
BTC investments are better.. I have made around 10k$ from investments since I joined.. And I havent done much...

I got into btc a while ago. I was watching a live stream  starring keemstar and he was bitcoin gambling. He was playing at casino called bitcoinvideocasino and he hit 5 wilds on the slots and he was jumping and yelling out 15 BITCOIN 15 BITCOIN  :D. I was so confused intill they converted the funds it was 5,131$. Then I got really interested knowing the value. Well that's how I got into bitcoin..

Wow $10k profit. Just buying and selling btc when the price goes up, or another trading method?

got in a couple years ago cause of gambling, after researching about btc for  a month, i realize this is the best avialiable option for financial freedom  at the moment. 

I entered in bitcoin world when 1 btc is equal to $1000. And I got my 1st btc before 2 - 3 months ago with the help of satoshimines. Com my favourite site to make money.

It's simple.
I believe Bitcoin is future of internet payments.
If nothing else, it's safer then any other kind of known and already used ones.
Beside that, it's fun to trade it as price changes daily.
I earn sometimes some, but also sometimes lose some.
Digital payment is way to go, so I'm in it too.

One year ago, I was attracted by the high ROI of bitcoin mining. I bought some ASIC miners to get involved in crypto world, and started to learn the concept of crypto world.

I got into it about a year n a half back..when My friend told me about it..It was just so cool n hassle free that I just counldnt resist using it.! I gamble with my BTC mostly. but quite a lot of other things as well.!

yup! You can earn even more $'s if you have good knowledge in buying and selling bitcoins.. ;)

After a while I had a better look into what Bitcoin really is. And after that I got hooked  :D

I support Bitcoin because it has potential. Profits are nice but not my main reason for loving Bitcoin.

I think a lot of people will be introduced to bitcoin over the next couple of years due to gambling. It helps those where it is difficult or illegal to do so. I actually think it's only a matter of time before sports betting sites like William Hill and Ladbrokes accept bitcoin because it is much cheaper for them than Paypal and Western Union and Skrill etc.

Even in Q4/2013 it was impossible to accumulate 1 million bitcoin ever again.
Did you really think you would be able to back then?

Maybe. Maybe 1 will be all you need but maybe they'll all become worthless. Bitcoin isn't a magical get rich quick scheme. I'd be more interested in spreading awareness about bitcoin and the technology rather than just holding and hoping to become a millionaire, but if you want that better get promoting btc to everyone you meet.

I got into this world because of a meme that was posted on the internet. I got curious as to what it was so I searched out a bit. Turns out it was a form of virtual currency that was being used in the internet. Because of my fascination, I registered in here and came now to where I am right now.

Long ago I heard all the really hot girls love bitcoiners.

I'm using VPN anonymizers for years now and VPN is a service which usually has to be paid.
To expose as less as possible, I used to pay the VPN anonymously with a voucher which I purchased either on the gas station or in the kiosk using cash.

One day I wanted to extend the VPN membership because it was to expire again. I went to a kiosk and asked for the voucher, same procedure like all the years ago. This time the assistant was picking up paper and pen, started to ask me for my full name and address which should be verified of course. I refused and left, moving to the next shop but everyone refused me to hand out a voucher without my full details.

Later on, I tried several mobile phone shops and computer stores instead, close to nobody knew what I was talking about when mentioning the voucher. After walking a marathon lasting two days, I had luck in an small ancient dithy&messy looking second hand mobile phone shop. He finally handed out the voucher without checking my identity, he even didn't asked for, finally!

In the evening after extending my membership I logged in to my standard chat and had a talk about my great journey and the disturbing development everything being registered and logged. A privacy enthusiast replied, these vouchers are "dead" right now due to new regulation, I should start to use bitcoin and buy the bitcoins with cash either on a bitcoin conference or by arranging a face to face meeting.

Thats how I started with bitcoins. The next extension of my VPN membership was paid just with bitcoin.

Why?
Simple I believed in the bright future of BTC and that this was very good investment for me.
Still feel the same :)

I got into Bitcoin two years ago because I graduated in Finance and Economics and I wanted to actually use my degree to impact the world instead of falling rank and file in the pursuit of some other person's dream.

I want to use creativity and ingenuity to make something new. Bitcoin allows me to express myself in this manner.

That's a very nice story from someone who was not financially motivated but did it because of it's properties!

Agreed. I think this is a genuine use of bitcoin due to rules and regulations trying to log everything you do especially when you're not doing anything wrong. Bitcoin gives people freedom in that respect.

I got into bitcoin actually from a friend of mine who started in 2009. He told me about it, and I was really fascinated. So I got into it around 2012/2013, can't really remember. At that time, no one was really supporting me, and I just wanted to make some extra cash.  ;D

Heard of it from my brother who mined it back when you could make more than nothing from your personal computer  ::)
But I didn't get into it until a few years down when i decided to research it more heavily myself. Then I decided it was worth spending some money and time on and so far it's been amazing  :D

I heard about it in the middle of 2013 and liked the sound of it immediately.
Like many newbies, I wanted to get involved with mining, but even then it was way past the point og being able to do anything on a normal PC, especially my rubbishy PC!  Soon enough I had a Mt. Gox account and deposited and bought my first bitcoin, even though they were much more expensive there than anywhere else, my first mistake!  I have invested them, bet them, traded them, bought alts and everything possible since then.

Nowadays I like to spend them in the real world when possible, otherwise I tend to sit on them and wait for more real world opportunities to open up.  I find most online chances to invest seem to work out to be scams, so I will wait for more common acceptance.

i just started in july 2014, but i've looking at it for a longer time.. I first saw it when it was worth 1000, and when i got in it was still worth about 600.

It was funny as i could have gotten in earlier but i didn't ... so sad..

Bitcoin was used as a tipping tool on Reddit for a long time but I didn't really pay attention till the price was already bubbling in 2013. The price was crazy volatile then and always increasing so trading was fun and the experience sucked me into the crypto world. Shortly after that Dogecoin came out and I was ready for the explosion  ;D

I got into BTC around Aug/Sept of 2011. Had two AMD cards that I was going to put into a gaming rig but was sorely disappointed by their performance. I offered the free game that came with them to a friend of mine and he said "you should mine bitcoins with them." I had NO CLUE as to what he was talking about but I set up two PC's for mining and let them sit until about Sept 2013 when one of them had fan problems. Turns out that PC had blue screened about a year prior to having fan problems. :(

And I've been glued to BTC since I rediscovered it late 2013.

Been fun keeping up on things though.

OP i got in around a year ago when i was playing poker and a fellow poker player mentioned it in chat so i googled it researched for a few weeks and the rest is history :)

My story is pretty normal and not interesting at all. My friend told me about bitcoin in late 2013. I did not listen to him then. I thought it is just an experiment without future. But I read some info, watched some videos, and after gathering some knowledge I knew bitcoin is the key. Since them I am a bitcoin worshipper.

Meh, the difficulty wasn't really low enough to let him make too much from pooled mining. Also... don't make me mention what the GPU that he mined from was  ::)

when I know bitcoin 2013, when the price of $1000 and when it was very busy talking. it happened when I was with unemployment and trying to get it, and it is hard :( , I just play the faucet at the time and just get some satoshi very sad :'(

I was introduced into cryptocurrency during late 2012/early 2013 after a friend told me about it.
Of course, everybody said I was stupid so I disregarded it.

Last year, I discovered Dogecoin and was fascinated by how it worked.
My passion for crypto escalated to what it is today.

I mined litecoin using my gpu until it was not profitable then I converted it to bitcoin so it was more stable than litecoin. I made about 0.1 from it and still have it today!

A year ago, when I heard about it from a friend. It was right after the pump and everybody were extremely positive.
Why? Because I was looking for a good investment and rates offered by banks were getting worse every year.

Back in 2013 summer, I read some news about Bitcoin and I was intrigued by Bitcoin features. The next day I opened a account on BTCCHINA and started trading Bitcoin, It was around 100$ per Bitcoin at that moment. Wonderful memories, isn't it?  :D

A friend of mine sent me some bitcoins as my birthday gift in late 2012.

And now I'm addicted to it. The best birthday gift ever :P

Got in late on the boat in 2014, I was first introduced to it back in 2012,  and sold 5 Bitcoins I had which I got in return for helping out someone with some development work.
I later sold it for 65$, which I obviously regret, but thats how I was introduced. Started following it more only early this year.

Glad to hear you made it but sorry to hear that dude so does bitcoin set you back around 600 -700 dollars? The rates from the banks are basically non existent better of hiding it under your mattress :) 

Although i have read that some banks are now giving 4-5% interest annually but i think that is in Australia and the west are still not budging not that i care to be honest.

When the price was crashing on Mt. Gox, I bought in another exchange at around the same price as today (~$250).

I then bought a few S1 AntMiners and been livin' it ever since; best buy I ever made.

I bought in at $150, $250, $550, $700, $850, $900 and still profit today; if you want to make some money you'll make some if you try :)

However, I don't need to buy coins anymore, I can mine them as much as I want and my 5TH/s mine was made from nearly free money.

I have yet to cash anything out but I have a quite well padded crypto portfolio.

Got into it in 2013 and why? Because I wanted to join in the financial revolution. Bitcoin truly is a genius concept and the possibilities for it are immense. My only fear is they wont ever be fully realized by the masses and it wont ever catch on like it should. I have patience, though.

I got into BTC about a few months ago...a lot of friends said I should join it so I read up a little bit about it...and thought might as well..I tried a couple of faucets here and there..and found out...well they don't really pay as much :-( Oh well...so right now..I barely have even 1 Btc to my name ahahaha.

Sure, I bought some at high prices, but I also bought some low, so I'm still doing better with Bitcoin than I would if I kept it all in the bank. There were some better investment opportunities last year, but let's not be greedy. :)
I remember 10 years ago they were giving even 6% a year, now you're lucky if you get 3, at least in Europe. Everything is better nowadays than keeping money in the bank. Metals, jewelry, wine, land, you name it.

Soo... plz gimme some of dat money on some miners xD

me and my friend was heart litecoin from one of our mutual friend, it was like $5. we decided to buy but haven't managed to do it. wallet concept and bitcoin technology was looked very hard and gave up.

after a week from that, litecoin's price was up to $40 and we decided to learn more :)

A lot of people is getting into bitcoin nowadays because it's being used as a tipping tool all over Youtube.

Brother In-Law gave me bitcoin for my birthday for beer! No were around here to spend it. Later I found out that I could use it online to play poker!
