Title: Spherical Keyboard to prevent carpal tunnel
Post by: Xenland on August 01, 2012, 05:11:23 PM
I was thinking of a keyboard that would feel more naturally and i was thinking of a spherical keyboard you hold in your lap and hold it like your crossing your fingers. This should prevent carpal tunnel because it is how your hands would feel most comfortable with out anything there. the down side is the small learning curve to memorize the keys.

Would be fun to play games or program with out carpal tunnel lol

Thanks but all of those keyboards seem to require the action to turn your wrist 90 degrees in order to operate as cool as they all are.

Think of a ball you are squeezing in your lap and think how comfortable it would be to just place your hands on the ball and just start typeing. no need to turn your wrist, and I mention not turning your wrist because i remember this study with a mouse that employed the same concept and found that didn't cause carpal tunnel in almost 100% of test subjects and i was because you held the mouse like you hold out your hand(like a comfertable hand shake)

I swear by those stupid split keyboards, and have 4 more hermetically sealed in storage for future use.

I endorse this. Something like this would be great:

I can see it now, people will be sticking their sticks into boob like keyboard and fapp to worksafe porn while still at work. Yeah spherical keyboards sounds like beer, its only good depending on who you hand it too--for some will make things gets out of control.

Apple could make a spherical control device and call it the iball

A spherical keyboard is a good idea and I think I have a solution to overcome the learning curve for memorizing the key layout.
Incorporate a Fleshlight into the spherical keyboard.
You will spend more time learning the key layout.
Downside, it you thought it was already difficult to get away from the keyboard before the spherical version.

Another benefit: Maintains cover when someone barges into the room without knocking.

Female version could have a protuberance so they can steady the ball, the spherical keyboard could vibrate with every key press.
