Title: Purchasing gold on Coinabul: 1 Troy Oz ≠ 1oz! Post by: Mitchow on August 01, 2012, 10:51:22 PM Let's first establish the difference between an Ounce and a Troy Ounce:
1 oz = 0.911458333 Troy oz Take a look at the screen shot below. On the navigation bar, I chose to view the 1 Troy Oz Gold options. The first item on the list is a Gold Coin weighing 1 Troy Oz, that's understandable. The following two bars however, Credit Suisse & Perth Mint, do those also weight 1 Troy Oz? I realize that it does say Credit Suisse - 1 ounce bar, but I just need confirmation that it is truly a whole oz. http://vvcap.net/db/OlCHtJVLBBSO1gcm6-v_.png Hearing from Coinabul himself would fully clear my worry, but if anyone's purchased an oz of gold in the form of a bar and can let me know, that would work too. Thank you. Title: Re: Purchasing gold on Coinabul: 1 Troy Oz ≠ 1oz! Post by: ShireSilver on August 01, 2012, 11:24:30 PM Yep, for silver and gold, hen people say ounce, they mean troy ounce.
For copper and other non-precious metals, and ounce is avoirdupois. Ounces are stupid. Grams FTW! Title: Re: Purchasing gold on Coinabul: 1 Troy Oz ≠ 1oz! Yes, all our ounces are troy ounces. I'm redoing product descriptions, so I'll add that specification. Thanks, -Jon |
