So I've been mining for 2 days and I discovered my Block Erupter Cube blew it's own fuse. Picture attached. Good thing they shipped it with a spare. I am mining in high speed mode. Ambient temperature in my house is ~25C. I've gone out and purchased a small fan just for the fuse.

run it on the lower speed those units burn up.

Or these fuses are available at any auto parts store.  Wow, your brave mine hasn't been running for at least a year.... what are they 375 watts for 40gh? :D

Hey, at least it blew a fuse - that's a welcome deviation from all the miners that have their chips go up in flames, connectors melting down, and wires fulfilling their true dream of becoming toaster filaments.

It's clocking at 337 watts using a Killawatt tool, that's about 77cents/day where I live. I don't mind, it's nice to keep the coins alive.

The fuses that shipped with those things have thin blades which don't adequately contact the socket and tend to overheat there instead of at the actual fuse part. I've repaired I don't know how many with melted fuse sockets for that reason. Go buy a pack of 30A fuses from O'reilly or something and you probably won't have an issue.

are they like the 49 port hub I melted that fuse. am built that gear.

its max 30 x 12 = 360   337/360 is over 90%.

Yes, I think they got the fuses from the same supplier. The sockets are also the same - the only 49-port hub in my custody had a burned fuse socket and required rebuilding. I would actually be surprised if the sockets were rated for 40A, given the two pins on 'em are noticeably weaker than my server board's screw terminals rated for 20A each. That coupled with the poor contact from narrow-blade fuses, those things were burning all over the place.

yeah I ended up putting in 30 amp fuses from pep boys auto shop and never ran more then 40-44 of the 49 ports.

@ op go to an auto parts store use a 25 amp fuse and downclock. much safer then running high clock.  there is a lot of info on this site from last jan 2014 ..  I think an entire batch of cubes were sold as under clock only.

I agree with what others said. When I had my cubes I replaced them with the same AMP auto fuses and never had an issue. On the down side, your cube is way passed EOL ... It's about two generations back .

All these threads in hardware about getting fucked or blown.  It's getting distracting on this forum!  :D

Forgot about High/Low setting, always had mine running on low no problem.  Now it's a nice paperweight.  You should pick up an S1, about the same noise level and 180gh @ the same watts for about $30 used on CL.  Keep Mining!

Back in the day of the blades I blew a few fuses. They were the second blade version.   But just replace them and it works again. 

You would be better off putting this on a shelf and not mining with it at this point.
