A result of a new survey says that US customers are more confident in transacting bitcoin (http://bitforum.info/t/survey-customers-are-more-secure-in-transacting-bitcoin-compared-to-mobile-payment-platforms/358?u=thebitboss) and considers it safe compared to other online wallets or mobile apps.

Although we are in the most bottom part of the survey, I myself can say that this is a positive thing for us.

As what analysts says, give bitcoin time.

credit card is safe but you must pay a lot interest per month
cash is safe when use it in small amount, if your transaction using big amount of money? better to prepare yourself for worst possibility
and then bitcoin only need very few of fees and can send big amount of money instantly

I don't get the survey... Bitcoin is safer than online wallets and mobile apps? Bitcoin can be "stored" in online wallets and make transactions on mobile apps! I think the survey shows how little an average person understands bitcoin.

This is certainly more a step that Bitcoin gives to its success.

I will be proud if they could beat cash in the number 1 position.

What a poor and useless article!

It doesn't tell what are the other online wallets or mobile apps, and overall it doesn't explain how BTC fared so badly with only 3% of the respondents saying BTC was the safest form of digital payment.

And no link to the complete survey to find out more...

I agree. According to the article, it's already passed checks in approval ratings. That's a big step for the general public. Approval/acceptance will only grow exponentially. (Fingers cross'd.)

As most of the users here always say, bitcoin is still in its infancy. Time is what bitcoin really needs before seeing massive adoption. By then we can concur that more users will flock in because they will realize that bitcoin is indeed a great payment option rather than credit cards issued by banks and financial institutions.

That's not at all what the survey says.

The survey says of all forms of payments 3% consider bitcoin safe...that's pretty low. Bitcoin has an awareness and perception problem (we all know that). The fact that it's higher than checks means nothing. Most young people today have never used a check. It's not that people think checks are unsafe but that most people don't use them, they're not convenient.

I feel the opposite, but everyone is free to their own opinions.
Bitcoin is actually stored on systems on individuals, and not everyone is good with maintaining the security of their systems.
As for diggital payments, like paypal, they are much more safer than bitcoin and can be reversed too.

Bitcoin does just need time. More and more people I talk to everyday know what it is. I have been making money with btc since 2013 and at first know one had a clue what I was talking about. Today I would say 1 in 5 people do though. There will be a point where it will be just as popular as using paypal or any other online wallets. The more big online business that accept it the more it will be used.

I think you have it spot on there..... most people have never used bitcoin, and fill in a survey based on their limited experience.

Credit cards is in no way safe to use online..... Bitcoin is much better and there is no chargebacks for the merchant.

Cash a "digital payment" ? What are thhese people smoking?

When you do a survey, make sure your target audience know something about the subject matter, or you would get results like this.

It sure is safer and i don't believe in double spend either , it't not that easy to do

We believe in saving because we know bitcoin has better fundamentals than, to say, lottery ticket. If bitcoin takes over global commerce, remittances and microtransactions, it potentially becomes the most valuable commodity in history, worth on the order of $100T total, which is around $4M per coin, or about 10,000 times more than it's currently worth.

Hopefully the survey is getting as much attention as possible and sending the message across that bitcoin is safe. People generally need to realize that when there are incidences about hacked exchangers, people losing money because they trust some online wallets has totally nothing to do with bitcoin.

i hope more ppl will learn about bitcoin and blockchain technology, they will surprised if they understanding about it, especially with low fees :D

A survey? If survey results said my FaceBook password (god) was safe, would it be?

Among digital payment platforms, bitcoin CANNOT be safer. The reason is because bitcoin has the components of cash, it's anonymous...if I lose what's in my pocket and someone else finds it i've lost it for good! Same exists for bitcoin - transactions are final. Thefts are nearly impossible to find or reverse. There's very little safety with bitcoin.

Oh, and the volatility of the price also reduces the safety, e.g., it wouldn't be safe to put your life savings into bitcoin because it could be worth half as much in 3 months. It could also be worth double too...

Well, cash is number 1 in this survey and bitcoin is supposed to be digital cash... No wonder it's ranked above some very suspicious "digital wallets".

Cash will remain  number one. Maybe for first world countries, Bitcoin will soon become a house hold name, but for the people in the third world countries cash will still remain at number one.

I don' think the point is so much how safe bitcoin actually is to use, it is more how safe it is perceived to be by the public, which is an indication of potential future use

Of course by bitcoin users because that is who uses it and that is who knows all other payment methods lack what bitcoin gives, the security that you have if you use it is brilliant and you have no worries about id theft and the rest of the crap as long as you take care your coins are safe. Bitcoin for the win :)

Cash, debit cards, credit cards won the contest with Bitcoin third from last with 3% of the votes. People thought mobile wallets, money apps and Bitcoin/cryptocurrency are unsafe but Bitcoin is the safest of the unsafe methods.

You are right.
Bitcoin is excellent solution for many average Internet users, because of security, decentralization, anonymity etc.
Of course, the most important prerequisite for the use Bitcoin is access to the Internet or local infrastructure.

That is one of bitcoin's selling factor.
Fast transactions, anonymity in every transaction, and of course a safe way to transfer some funds.
