Is this the same coin as the one that was being crowd funded?

Yep, same coin.  Its in the FAQ section.  Since we didn't get our goal we had to tone down the design a little bit so we went with a tamper evident label.  The end user will print out their paperwallet and put either the private and/or public key folded up on the recession in the back of the coin.

Rekt, only US :(, maybe you thinking about making international sales also.

Everyone that is outside of US/Canada let me know where you are from so I can get a better idea of where everyone is at to determine how viable it is to ship there.  One of the bad things about shipping international is the cost.  I get pretty good rates but its still as much as the coin itself if not more depending on how I ship.  UPS/FedEX I can include the duties, but USPS is cheaper (and slower) but the consumer would have to pay any duties which further ups the cost.

I went ahead and took some new pictures since I have a nicer camera nowadays, the detail on these coins is great. Here are some additional pictures in an Imgur album (http://imgur.com/a/uchxz) if anyone is interested; some of them are a bit redundant but I figured I would just go ahead and put several in the album in case the CryptoVault guys wanted to use some of them (if you do want to use them for any reason, PM me for original full-size). Note I am def. not a professional photographer.  ;)

I also wrote a short review of my copper/nickel alloy CryptoVault coins in their other thread, and you can read that here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=885563.msg9770992#msg9770992) if you're interested. I obtained my coins directly from the CryptoVault team after I was scammed by some fraudulent bastard pretending to be them- their kindness and generosity toward a random stranger (me) really blew me away and left a lasting impression. Since my coins were received when they were still working on funding for the fire/water-proof labels (their original idea), I don't have the tamper-evident security stickers to cover up the private key on the backside, but they said they would send me some of them and for that I am again grateful!

I have to vouch for these guys, they seem to genuinely have good hearts and their coins are very nice, and at only $10 these coins are a steal! Also- I can't wait to buy some of the 24K gold-plated Vault coins when they are officially released!

EDIT: Here are some shots of the tamper-evident security sticker for the private key from their site; lookin' good!

Man, I wish I didn't have to buy 25 coins to get outside US shipping. I just might start an EU group buy for this, if enough people are interested in one.

Mitchett and thebitcoinquiz.com where are you guys located?  I'm trying to get a good grasp on where a majority of our international orders will be from to see what kind of shipping rates I can get.

I'm located in The Netherlands and could easily organize a group buy for people from Europe if necessary, however, I prefer to just buy one without all the extra hassle.

By the way, it's Mitchełł with L's, but don't worry about that mistake. :P

Germany added too =)

Very unique looking coin, I think I'll take one or two... the only thing that worries me is the shipping price, how much would it be to ship to somewhere in Ontario, Canada?

Title: Re: Vault Coin (Physical Cold Storage) Online Store Now Live

USD 2.98 - 6.41+ depending on how many you buy.

We do now! One coin would be $4.58USD, more coins more cost (it calculates on the checkout page too).

Our 33% OFF sale is ending on May 5th.  Our coins are a real steal @ $10 each.  Low coin numbers are still available.  Contact us here or through email if you need shipping to a country we dont support yet.

Also we are in the process of designing a paper wallet, kind of like the one on bitaddress.org but we are not programmers and was wondering if anyone out there knows if there is an easy way to have the keys and QRs generated on that site "auto fill" into our paper wallet template.  If anyone has that kind of skills or knowledge let us know.  We wanted to offer this as a free service on our site but wanted it to be as easy as possible for people to save an image of our paper wallet and let bitaddress.org or similar site auto-fill the image (basically so the end user doesn't have to copy/past the QRs and keys).

Thanks,
Kyle

Are you selling the paper wallet, vs having the user print at home?  If you are selling, are you printing on any special paper?

What low numbers do you still have available? Might be interested depending on the numbers...

Title: Re: Vault Coin (Physical Cold Storage) Online Store Now Live
Post by: mycryptovault on April 24, 2015, 10:39:12 PM
We will not be selling the paper wallets.  The user will be able to download the image and copy/past their keys and QR codes in the security of their own home.  We had not thought about having them printed on specialty paper, although we do have access press quality printing machines and an assortment of paper options.  Now that I have setup the paper wallet files it would not be that hard to implement custom wallets and or coin specific wallets, though we like the idea that our coins and paper wallets are crypto agnostic (although I'm not sure if everyone agrees with me).

I somehow skipped coin number 15, so that is currently the lowest coin.  After that you are looking at the low 20s.  So still plenty of low number coins to go around =)

I think they're all nice, having that official USD background look with the patterns, and the security thread.

If you have access to special papers and ink, I for one would like an official printed paper wallet direct from you.  I prefer that over printing on my home printer on cheap paper.  It would like nice with the holos/stickers added over the private key.

Maybe a nice 80 or 100 pound matte paper.  I suppose you would want them sans keys?
Also they could be cut to trim lines.  One wallet = 5.4" x 2.9" (edge of wallet).
Or 24 up on a sheet 18" x 18" sheet uncut (like the sheets of USD before they cut them).

Also which design was your favorite?

I'm torn between A and C.  I prefer the logo.  I'm leaning towards A, but I like both.  I'm not funding them, since I'm a collector, so I don't mind if they're with keys or not.  Though other people may use them as wallets, and would likely want them DIY.

On C and D, I think I am going to tone down the background a little to lighten them up a bit.
Also possibly thinking about enlarging all logos, but dropping the transparency to about 50% so the don't stand out "as" much.

Wow, those are all really nice, great job with the designs guys! My favorites are B and C, but honestly I like them all and I think it would be sweet if people could choose between all 4 when printing paper wallets from your site. The more options the better, in my opinion. I think lightening up the backgrounds on the last 2 would be a good idea, but I don't think you should reduce the boldness of your logos; they're your work- take credit for them! Having nice paper wallets available for free printing from your site is a great idea to increase traffic as well, good thinking.

And I'm with bithalo- if you could have some printed on some thick, high quality paper (or cloth-paper, USD?) I would be interested in buying some and I think that would be pretty cool. By the way- I still need to holler at you guys when I'm up in Nap town next! It sucks, I've never met a Bitcoiner IRL yet (that I haven't turned into a Bitcoiner myself). I'm thinking about checking out one of the coin shows up there sometime, I don't have a good LCS so I'm itching to check out some nice gold & silver coins in person. I might bring some physical crypto coins to sell if I do, maybe you/we could bring some Crypto Vault coins?

Thanks for the your ideas!  I never thought anyone would pay for a paper wallet, but I never really though about printing them professional quality style.  I bet we could pull that off, and those could have a design on the back, to easily differentiate from home printed ones.  Probably do a limited run of 50 or 100 or so and individually number then (on back).

You sign up for the indy bitcoin meetup group?  I forgot to contact you but they had a meeting last month.  I think they are going to start doing 2 meetings per month.

I think for sure people would buy them if they were professionally made and on a bank note quality paper, especially if they were affordable. If you could somehow do some in quantity and sell them for less than 10 bucks including profit I think many people would buy at least 1. But you're on the right track with a limited and numbered run like that, and there are many collectors here. A company named Bitcoin Suisse AG did some sweet BTC certificate type pieces, and it was before my time but I know BitBills did notes before there were many different physical coin makers.
Also I thought the uncut sheets of your wallet designs was a cool idea, a lot of people love sheets of USD freshly printed. Maybe auction off like 5 uncut sheets separately here when they're released or after sold out would be sweet.

Haven't looked at the group yet but I will for sure check it out, I wouldn't mind going to a few events and checking out new products and tech and talking about BTC.

As for coin 15, just head on over to our site and order one, I'll make sure you get #15.  If you are not from a country we ship to just let me know which country you live in and I'll add it.

Yay, thanks for the contest
And I already receive my coin now :)
But I don't really understand how this works.. I read your faq but it's still hard to understand :)
So I receive:
1. Coin
2. A sticker, I believe you call this tamper evidence label?
3. Some card..

So, I don't really understand..
First, I create address at bitaddress.org right?
Then after I create it, I print both the address and the secret key?
Then after I print them, I share my address and fold the secret key and put it at the back side of the coin? After I fold it I secure it with the sticker?
Is that it?
Then, how can I withdraw my bitcoin?
What's the function of "void" word when the tamper evidence label pull out?
What's the card that I receive functional for?
Thanks :)

I'll wait for OP to confirm, but it seems like all your stages are correct. Once you share your public address, people can send you some BTC. Nobody can access the BTC without the private key that you stick under the tamper evident sticker.
When you want to redeem the wallet, simply peel the sticker and then enter the private key on either a Bitcoin client or online wallet such as blockchain.
If you'd want to reuse the coin again for cold storage, you'd need to follow the steps from the beginning but you may need to buy some more stickers as once it's been peeled the sticker can no longer be stuck on.

The void function shows people that the coin has been redeemed. Once the back is peeled, you can see that either you or someone else peeled the sticker and has accessed the private key.

Yes your steps are correct.  When you go to bitaddress.org the bitcoin address ("SHARE" in green) is the public address.  You can give that alpha numeric string of letters and numbers, or the QR Code to anyone you wish to receive bitcoin payment from.  The private key ("SECRET" in red) is the key you need to keep secure.  Print that string of letters/numbers out and cut it out.  Fold the paper in half or thirds so that the the print is on the inside of the folds (you dont want the label to stick to the print but it doesnt matter if it sticks to the white part of the paper).  Place that on the back of the coin and place the label over top.  The idea behind the tamper evident "VOID" is just for piece of mind.  If your roommate peeled it off he would not be able to put it back on without you knowing.

You can send as many bitcoins as many times as you want to that public key.  There are many ways to redeem the bitcoins when you are ready too, too many to list here (its pretty easy though).  You would simply remove the label and enter the private key into whatever wallet or app you are using for your bitcoins (a few more steps are required but its different for each app/wallet).

I probably made it more confusing that it really is.

If you are new to bitcoin in general and are in need of a bitcoin wallet, I would google or ask around on this site.  I am probably not the best one to give advice there.  I'm still using the good ol fashioned bitcoin qt wallet, lol.

The cards are just business cards, with QR codes directing to our website =)

I was just wondering, why on the customs form is the price of the coin marked at a higher cost than what it sells for on your site?
I was taxed a hefty amount because the postage label said the coin was valued at $25.
On your site the coin sells for $15 (which would be exempt from UK tax had that been marked on the label).
However, since the label read that the coin value was $25, I was taxed for more than the price of buying a new coin... (Roughly $18).

I really don't understand the point of doing that. It's extremely unprofessional to say the least!

I am sorry for that.  When I get busy I have my shipping manager send these from time to time and I don't know what happened. I don't believe he has sent a coin overseas before yours.  I did speak with him before we even went live and we had decided on 2.00 and an HS Code that would not incur customs charges.  Shoot me an email at 3kingsltc @ gmail . com and I will fix this for you!  Once again sorry for the tax, we had originally set this up to avoid this situation.

Now shipping worldwide.  Its a little more expensive than the specific countries listed because we just took an average from a few far away countries to come up with the cost.  Otherwise we would have to enter every single country individually and that would take forever.  If you have been looking for a while but we didn't have shipping available to your destination, now is your chance!  If we start to see lots of orders coming in from specific countries I will go back in and add that country manually to help bring costs down.  Thanks, and happy ordering!

Gauging interest on two new versions of our coin.  They would be an ultra limited release.  We need to know if it is going to be worth it to give these a try:

1: 24k Gold Plated
2: Solid .999 Fine Silver .5oz

What are your thoughts opinions?

We were thinking a timed release, so lets say 30 days.  How ever many are ordered in that 30 days is it.  We would potentially do it this way as a pre-order.  Meaning once the one month is up and anyone who is going to order one has; then we will put them into production; then ship them out.  It could be as little as 10 or as many as 50 (i foresee it being on the lower end).

Please keep in mind that many people shy away from pre-orders lately.

You may end up with less than 10 pre-orders if you're looking for full payment up front.  However if you do proceed, count me in for one of each, once you let us know the price and pre-payment terms.   I imagine it may be difficult for you to quote an exact price if the production number is unknown as there may be fewer coins to distribute costs to.

Understandable that people will shy away from pre-orders.  We hope our reputation helps put peoples minds at ease, if not a select few will have some pretty rare coins on their hands.  We are in negotiations to get the lowest price possible without knowing our end quantity.

I can attest that you guys are trustworthy.  I appreciate when you helped me out last year, when a fake seller pretended to make your coins, and ran off with some mine and others' money.  You guys went above and beyond to send me a free set of coins to make up for it.  Thank you.

I look forward when you make your announcement of these new coin varieties.

I would be interested in a silver coin (0.5oz or 1oz) but the deciding factor for me would be the price.
I can assume that the moulds needed would be quite costly and having a low volume of coins minted will mean that the cost will be divided over fewer coins making them significantly more expensive than other custom minted coins.
Then again, if you could work something out with a mint, that'd be great!

On a side note, I made another possible option for the free paper wallets (dont mind the border =)

I would love to see a 1/2 oz .999 fine silver CryptoVault coin released, I would definitely be interested. The 24k plated would be nice as well I think but personally I would get more excited about the 1/2 oz. silver.

Is the address/paper wallet generator live on the site yet? I will check that out for sure and make a wallet or 2 with your design if I could generate them offline.

I wish it were live already.  I am pretty happy with the newest design I did for the paper wallet, and its pretty easy to swap out our "logo" and the ":Currency" and replace it with the "B" and ":Bitcoin".  I plan on making wallets for the top 15 or so alts.  I just know nothing about coding, so making a live generator on our site will be hard.  I know it can be done as I have seen other wallet generator sites that use custom made paper wallet images to put the generated info into.  If anyone has the knowledge to accomplish this let me know and we can hook you up with some free coinage as payment.

In preparation for the limited edition coins we thought about offering a second label option.  It would be a clear label allowing the silver or gold to shine through.  It would not have the tamper evident properties but would allow you to put your first bits on the paper wallet and allow you to see it through the label.  Here is a mockup:

Ravenbit did a clear tamper-evident holo label for something like this.  I wasn't a big fan as you had to make the visible paper cut neatly and properly sized to look good.   But it was tamper-evident and holo, so it had some good features.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=820645.0

Ideally, I would prefer a tamper-proof, custom not-clear holo, but I understand custom holos add cost.  If going that route, then you would want to ensure the lettering on the reverse doesn't get obscured.

Very interesting.  I was in touch with the owners a bunch after getting scammed by a fake seller a while back.  I own one of each of their coins: Alloy, Silver (1 of 8 made), Gold Pl. Alloy (1 of 8 made), and they were kind enough to give me a one-of-a-kind prototype paper wallet.  Hope they are still in business.  They did everything in their power to make things right.

Hello Everyone!  We are still in business as in we still have lots of coins we need to sell  :-\

We had to take our online store down as the monthly sales were too low to be profitable.  We are thinking of other ways to sell them to reduce our overhead.  If anyone has any good ideas other than taking PMs here please let us know.

If you would like to purchase coins please check our profile and you will find our email address.  Just shoot us an email and we will get you squared away.

We currently have ~450 Alloy Vault Coins available.

Singles: Bitcoin Equivalent of $10.00USD +Shipping(worldwide)

10 Stack: Bitcoin Equivalent of $75.00USD +Shipping(worldwide)

50 Stack: Bitcoin Equivalent of $300.00USD Free Shipping(worldwide)

100 Stack: Bitcoin Equivalent of $500.00USD Free Shipping(worldwide)

I definitely think the guy that tried to scam everyone definitely took the wind out of our sales, as well as our startjoin campaign.

If we could some how manage to sell all of these we would have enough to make another run (and possibly make some design changes), but I just don't think the market is ready yet.  Either consumers don't want to spend BTC for purchases, they think their coins are safe where they are, or our product simply doesn't interest them.

With the fall of yet another exchange, and hard drive failures around every corner you really need to be securing your digital currencies the old fashioned way.

I was hoping we could keep the store active until the Physical Bitcoin Encyclopedia https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1022071.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1022071.0) got published as we will be in it (hopefully we still will) as I was thinking it would be a big boost for traffic and sales.

Ideally if we could get some large orders moved (I'm looking at companies that revolve around bitcoin and crypto currencies in general as employee give-aways) we would then have the income for a second product.  Something designed by the community that they would want to purchase and maybe do a small run of those.

I hope it gives you a boost as well.

I'm also glad to see you guys still around.
