Title: What can I do with a small amount of BTC?
Post by: KaChingCoinDev on March 06, 2015, 12:09:07 AM
I am going to get between $25-$50 worth of BTC in my signature campaign. I can't decide what to do with it. I could pick up a cheap miner, and mine the crap out of a new altcoin, I could offer loans, I could trade Altcoins, what should I do?

How about saving so it can be much more useful in the future when it will probably worth a lot more. :)

you should find something nice you could use on ebay and just buy it.
Investing 20-50$ wont get u far, and from my experience it will only bring you small profits that u will later on try to increase exposing yourself to greather risk, and in the end u will just loose it all.
Trading altcoins, lending .. whatever you do, with that small investment wont get you far.
I know its not what u wanted to hear, but it is what it is.

cheers

It depends.
If you need reputation try the loans.
If you treat mining as a hobby and have cheap power you could buy a miner.
Maybe you just want to have some fun. Invite your friends for some beer and pizza.

Okay, I will consider that. I might just put aside the $25 every week from the sig campaign, and then I have $1,300 at the end of the year. And if BTC is up...

Read first line of what i wrote; just find something nice for yourself with that budget and buy it, and i dont mean a miner or similar, but something for fun like a necklace for your gf, night out with ur buddys, a hat .. anything. Investing it will be a waste of time, unless u can hold it for decades ..

Its pretty cheap, yes, but that doesnt mean the miner will pay it self out.
cheers

Actually, this is a good idea, reserve one "paycheck" and buy litecoin with it, it might be a good payoff in the future.

Save it or spend it on something in at a local pizzeria or cafe that accepts BTC.

Successful mining costs a lot more than what $50 can get you and mining alt coins is a waste. The alternatives to bitcoin are just temporary noise. They'll be long gone.

You can consider saving it and earn interest.
That will stop you from dumping it at a low price like now, and keeps your digital asset growing.

Try saving it until it will be a bigger sum and then try day trading on altcoin exchanges to increase your btc further. Just dont invest all your coins on one coin, learn to diversify.

Actually, this is best way to use your small amount of bitcoins

Invest into altcoins, the risk even bigger than gambling

I also suggest you to save your bitcoins, when you will reach a good amount then you can start to think to buy whatever you want (using them). The other option could be the dsyTrading of altcoins (but it is so risky).

There's no point in investing 20-50$ as that won't fetch you some really great amount of profits.
The better choice would be saving them or just buy something from them. You can get some real good household things from 50$

keeps them, and make other small amount via faucets or buy selling goody in the marketplace, those are the only safe investment

the others options are risky, you may end up lose your money

the simple answer is to just save it until you find something you really want to buy
or you could put it into shitcoins and gamble

mining altcoin is good too but you must see the future of that altcoin, too many shitcoin out there.
If you have passion with trading why not :)

Honestly if you wan't to see fair profits you will have to take a risk in maybe an altcoin or something. I suggest holding onto it for now and building up your amount over the next few weeks.

Well being in a similar position i have chose am not really fussed about the money as i am doing what i do naturally anyway to get it. (So it is of to the races  ;D)

That aside i would obviously like to increase the funds so i invest at this moment in time i have invested into E-money as IGotSpots has taken control and the coin is cheap at the moment with potential.

That is because like i said am not fussed if it tanks, if you are fussed go with what someone has said about buying something nice for a loved one, that's always good.

Just wait for the opportunity that will be coming, sell high, buy low back and sell high again.
Profit that way, profit won't be higher, but at least you won't lose them all of a sudden like one can in altcoins.

Most reliable option is hold until bitcoin price is high

But, if you have time & want take a risk than try invest in gambling site / gambling / trading altcoin / oofer a loan with collacteral
It's up to you which one is the most safe option for you

If i were you, i would pick invest in gambling site

I wouldn't suggest investing in a gambling site coz its pointless if the bank roll is already big.. he would earn cents for a month..

Yeah, The best thing is to keep on accumulating Bitcoins, When the price of Bitcoins will be $1000+ one would make good profits. :)

You could buy some litecoin and when the ratio to bitcoin goes 5-10 fold resell into bitcoin, this pattern has repeated itself many times over already.

Save and keep a hold of it. Holding your coins is the best thing you could do if you are the investing-type of person. Bitcoin's price fluctuates every now and then, and that $25-$50 worth of btc might be worth $50-$100 in the coming weeks.

And if it never goes that high again?
Best to use the coins to do what you like. Spend them, accumulate more, trade whatever makes you happy.

Pessimistic. :( But this is true though. One can never be sure of what will come in the following days, weeks, months or years. But accumulating won't hurt too.

He's essentially getting the coins for free, so yes, he's free to do what he likes with it.

That said, since he's only dealing with $25 chunks of Bitcoin, and is essentially getting it for free, why not accumuluate more?  He's basically receiving free Bitcoin every month with zero risk involved.  Turn that zero risk into something more substantial, rather than pissing it away on alts or mining or unnecessarily spending it.

And if it never goes that high again?  No skin off his back, because once again, zero risk involved....

Yup. Getting it for free is a good leverage to earn more. Why not hodl and see if the price takes it turn upward?

Could you please explain how you can get to that conclusion that you could lose all of the $25-$50 in a altcoin? I have never lost nowhere near that amount and i have had a few terrible alt coin investments lol

Also trying to trade btc/usd with that amount is pointless you will spend most of it on fee's and that is if you manage to sell high buy low which sounds easy enough but not many can actually do it.

OP do whatever makes you happy i am sure you have many ideas here to choose from.

Inexperienced traders tend to end up burning themselves because of the lack of knowledge and experience in regards to trading altcoins. Also, not all people are like you who never lost $25-$50 to an altcoin. You must be super careful in terms of trading.

He must be lucky. I've lost 0.15 in altcoins and most of it was on MZC when it was supposed to go up. Since then i've stopped trying to get lucky with alt speculation.

You may just go to a dice game site and try to roll it over.

Of course you'd only gamble the amount you afford to lose.

Risky. Sure, any investment has its own risks, but this method of growing btc is by far the riskiest. i wouldn't recommend OP to gamble as the chances are high of getting burned in the end.

It depends on your interests.  If you want to mine as a hobby, go for it (don't expect to make much).  If you like loaning others and watching your money grow (be sure you known how to loan the right people), go for it.  Don't gamble it unless you are perfectly fine with losing it all.  Otherwise, hodl! :)

With $25 I would invest in an altcoin and buy low on one exchange and sell high on another. After that I'd convert everything back to bitcoin. Or I'll just hold it if I'm not in the mood, I get pretty lazy.

I am going to get between $25-$50 worth of BTC in my signature campaign. I can't decide what to do with it. I could pick up a cheap miner, and mine the crap out of a new altcoin, I could offer loans, I could trade Altcoins, what should I do?

You may just go to a dice game site and try to roll it over.

Small amount may become a large one soon.  :D

Of course you'd only gamble the amount you afford to lose.

if it is all BTC he has, then gamble it is more than he could afford to lose...

gamble only if you have more than dust balance

Gamble with a x9900 multiplier with the faucet then martingale small amounts once you get the x9900 win with the backup of the $25.

Need money to make money. Participate in more signature campaigns, earn up a couple hundred bucks, then invest in something real (withdraw to fiat) or try something like btcjam, I put some of my btc in there and have a pretty good profit there. You won't get far in profits with 25 dollars

You'd also need to be careful on btcjam, I am at a loss due to 2 loans being defaulted on. If you invest the $25 wisely at btcjam, it's possible for you to double it.

Yea, 25 dollars over months or weeks (depending on how trustworthy and lucky you are), by compounding your profits and diversifying you could double it. Get it to 50, then double to 100, and you now can make some bigger investments. Use the general rule of only investing in A and B, ive had people default in C and lower, but never an A or a B.

I had invested in a user with an A+ rating. All his loans were paid off and he had paid off 54btc on time. Unfortunately when I invest in him he defaults😐

Yep people sometimes plan bigger scams by paying back (not actually using the loan, just paying the interest out of profit), getting to A+ rating, over 50 btc transacted, then pulls off a massive 10+ btc scam and people are left confused. It's possible for ANYONE to turn scam, its possible that even Stunna is building up all this trust and will run with thousands of btc, its possible (seriously doubt this, sorry for using yoou as an example Stunna)

Doesn't surprise me at all, to be honest.
Happened couple of times in this forum that a notable account was traded for money. The new user bought it to gain credibility and be able to scam people.

That's really disappointing, the things people do for money.

i think the best option you have is to start trading altcoin. but i gotta tell you it is not easy. you need to work on it a lot first. but when you understood the way it works, it is gonna be profitable.
and as far as mining goes, i would never go near it. it is too much work and stress for me :D

Just save it for awhile and use it in the future. If you can collect more then it's better.

Hold until it turns into a big amount or until you rise a big amount to be worth some investment

depends on your risk level.

low level: HODL
medium level: BitUSD (whatisbitusd.info) or PoS Coins
high level: HYIP

Invest that small amount? Much better to hold. And while holding, increase your small amount into a big one by doing your usual method and wait for it to become big. Much better to do investing if your initial investment is big. You will see what I mean when you try an investment. But of course make a study first before going in an investment.

Make a double or more by gambling on dice site or on sportsbook  ;D. But it's high risk.
For me better make investment on hyip, you can see hyip monitor so you know how to play smart. And why not to learn trading, i think it's good for next step.
