To me looks like he wanted to try another safe place of home, just to be sure he can sleep anywhere he wants.
He usually sleeps on my laptop.

LOL. You beat me to it. My wife is so absent minded, I've actually told her to check the washer and dryer for cats before she starts them. :D

@OP, It's normal for cats to find hiding places. It's their nature.

@OP, It's normal for cats to find hiding places. It's their nature.

simpler close the gate once you have put clothes in... doesn't need "fresh air"... or put your stuff at once, from a storage of dirty clothes, close, on, gone. safe cat, happy life.

Yeah. I've told her this too, but she still often leaves the machines open and "multitasks" giving plenty of time for one to crawl in unnoticed. If she at least checked the machine before closing it, it wouldn't be half bad, but she doesn't even do that. Then she'll often say to me later, "Can you count the cats to make sure one isn't in the machine?" *facepalm*
