I do think that the debates would probably unfairly help the small parties that would never be held to account, as they will never get into power, especially UKIP. He might also worry that UKIP will try to lock him down on his position on Europe, making him look closer to UKIP than he really is. This could splinter his conservative vote, costing him vital marginals and the election. I would still like to see a 4 party debate though.
