Title: Is money one of the three most important things in your life?

For me, short-term = No way.
Long-term == Yes, since I will eventually be needing much more than I have now.

Is money one of the three most important things in your life?

Yes of course. I would probably be needing money when the time progresses on, and I don't think I can live without money, because basically, you can't buy things without money lol.

Money is like blood. You need it circulating to stay operational. There've been phases where I've had nothing, and others where I've had plenty. I'm not sure my happiness level was any different, but the sense of reassurance is very powerful when you have some tucked away.

Agreed. Money reassures every human individual that he/she has better chances of living compared to those who have less or who have none. We cannot deny the fact that while we are living, we are bound to money, and we cannot live without it.

Again you have it wrong just because you have money does not give you better chances it reduces your chances because you become dependent on something that has been created to control you.

We have indeed been bound by money and that is what is destroying us.

it's not important, it's mandatory, which is different

fun/health are more important for me, be happy in your life, nothing else matter

health for me is always the most important but having a nice amount of money is not a punishment.
being happy in life is worth more than all the wealth of the world.

Money is not THE most important. Since you are asking the top three, yes. Money is what I need to buy food each and every day. It pays the rent to put a roof over my family and I. I will be surprised if someone says money is not one of the top three priorities in life.

Title: Re: Is money one of the three most important things in your life?

...

My case:

1) Spiritual health (the most neutral way I can characterize my beliefs without causing offence)
2) Physical and mental health (includes a happy marriage, decent friends, etc.)
3) Money, in its various forms (including preparations "just in case"), to lead to safe, comfortable and interesting life

No. 1 is by far the most important for me.

EDIT: Nice thread Bit_Happy!

EDIT-ER: Money at No. 3 IS important!  There are maybe 50 other things of lesser import...

Yes of course. I would put money the second most important.
Nowadays in our society, without money, nothing can be done. That's just how the World works.

It's only important to poor people, living paycheck to paycheck is not easy, as I'm a poor guy, money is pretty important to me, definitely top 3 priority.

Is it #1 for most, not necessary, but to be in the top 3, of course, as you cant go thru life without money (fiat or bitcoin)

Yes, probably on the top 3, and I bet it is for most people here. Nowadays you can't go far if you don't have a few thousand bucks, unfortunately.

If i was to loose something else to get money, then it wouldn't be, but currently it sure does scale high on my list,
i would put #health first, #money second and #happiness on third place. It's funny tho, because it seams that #money is instantly bringing the other two along in most cases.

cheers

Indeed, it's the world we live in. We are fucked without money, so our brains make our bodies be obsessed with money. This is why not being one of the lucky early BTC investors had such a dramatic trauma in a lot of people around here, including me. We can still hope that in 10 years we'll be rich by holding XX coins.

I hate to say it, but here where I live in Western Europe you need to have money and health and family on a shared first spot.

I can gladly say that I'm happy and healthy plus I have a decent income. I can't ask for more  :)

Yes. Money is what is used to get almost everything available in this world - food, roof, home, clothing, security. Without it life becomes much less livable.

Money is the means to which happiness can be more easily found.

For me it is important, because this economy teach us that without money you can live. So we will need every day much money, it basically this : we live for the money. It suppose to be the contrary, but this is not the case.

Yes, definitely. I may not be an example, but I couldn't live the way I do without money.
Besides, as I have traveled many times in third world countries (India and Africa) where I've met some people without any money, I sure don't want to live like them.

Well, money are just a tool. In a perfect reality you would not need money at all. People are just greedy by nature and do not understand that how good would be live without money, that is reason why communism failed. There will always some big greedy bastards who will do anything to be more important.

Wrong money does not reassure everyone just us who have been raised to worship money there are plenty of happy people around the world who live self sufficient happy lives without the need of paper.

Again you have it wrong just because you have money does not give you better chances it reduces your chances because you become dependent on something that has been created to control you.

We have indeed been bound by money and that is what is destroying us.

Is it that "we have been raised to worship money" or that we've been raised in a society that requires money to function?

If 20 of us lived on a private island somewhere money would be meaningless. But you can't very far in London or Paris or Shanghai without it.

Your logic is akin to saying we worship roads because we're forced to drive on them. Just because we use roads every day to get to where we need to go doesn't mean that we worship them.

I believe the question is more fundamental. Its like; would you rather live a fulfilled life with your family, living from paycheck to paycheck,
or have a stressful life without a family of your own, but with a lot of financial freedom?
In the end it all comes down to whats your preference, i would personally always choose family love and health over money, but still we cant live without it, so its reasonable to sacrifice part of time working to ensure those who you love have what they need to live a normal life.

cheers

It is but its not been my choice, if i had total control of society i wouldnt need money.  I think its better to view it as something you have no choice over rather then being a person who cares about money vs a person who doesnt care about money.

As you've said, we are bound with money. Isn't that enough reason to say that we are indeed reassured with greater living conditions because of the simple fact that everything you see and the basic necessities of life require money to have?

For me, money is not everything but without it there's also no point in life after all. Yeah it can't guarantee 100 percent happiness but least in today's rising cost of living where everything is measured how much money you own, it still makes a whole lot of difference. Those who were saying it's not important probably don't realize what they are taking about in the first place.

This. We are indeed bound with money. Admit it: you can't live without it. Even if you live in a private island with everything you need, still you are bound to go to the mainland once in every x weeks to get supplies, and the supplies you need requires money to acquire. So...

A farm is good nice healthy living and if you have a spring near by or a well you have very little need for money, but i am not lucky enough to have that privilege and i am trapped in the system but would much rather live in a cave with wolves or a farm and live from the land.. Even a shack in the woods> the newbies love shack :)

To answer your question i dislike money and it is nowhere near the most important thing in my life but i have no way to live without it because like i said i am trapped in the system as we all are so we are made to worship it and that is worth crying over :'(

Yes it is, but most people will say that since we are in a place, where people come to talk about money. It can give you almost anything you can think about, beginning with the basics like food and shelter and ending with a sense of security and accomplishment. Who wouldn't want  that?
3 things you need in life are: health, love and money.

yes and now.

Believe that health is first thing and happiness ass second.
Money comes later on.

Example you cant buy cure for cancer.
So basically health is prime.

For happiness if you dont have someone to share then you wont be needing any money.
Example is family wife and kids.

yes and now.

Sometimes you might. If you can't afford cancer treatment then that money would come in handy.

Hello,

Well, I can say money is very important to me. I think that is not so weird, because let's be honest.
Without money, none of us can survive in this cruel capitalism world.

Of course, there are many other things I am looking for in life, but money is one of the most important for sure.

Other two things are health and happiness.

Money is the most important thing, up to a point (enough so that you have a roof over your head, clothes so you won't freeze to death and food so that you won't starve to death).

Money is still very important when you have the above, but are at risk of not having enough if you lose your job or something.

When you don't have to worry about food/shelter/clothes, at that point money is still nice to have, but no longer that important.

This question needs a bit of dissection to make sense of it.

a: Do you want to create resources?

b: Do you want to consume resources? If so, do you want to create the resources you use?

c: Do you want to have resources in reserve? If so, do you prefer to have them in usable assets like a house or a car, in financial assets, in stocks, or in money?

d: Is it important to show that you are in the position to consume? Is it important to have the right to own those resourses in advance, or are you just happy to spend borrowed money with no intention to pay, or set the lenders at risk?

e: Are you a risk seeker, playing horses or lotteries, spending the money if you win, else living like a loser?

f: Or do you just not care for your own life, consequently seeking death, not life?

When the question is asked, it is often just to denigrate the opponent for supposedly bad choices. As you can see, the question can always be spun in a way so the responder looks like a fool. It is a method for ruling over the respondent. Irritating, really.

Is money one of the three most important things in your life?

Its family, health and money :) the thing is that all other things like fun, happiness, recognition, comes from them.  And as with all things there are diminishing returns for example if I got 100000 btc and not die from happiness then another 50000 btc would not have another 1/2 impact on happiness compared to when you received a huge amount for the first time..  :P
anyway back to reallity I would shit my pants of happiness if I got like 50 btc  :P ...or 5 :P :P :P
