Most people buy accounts to join the signature campaigns.

I agree for member and sr. member accounts, but there are few sig campaigns which discriminatebetween senior and hero. There are even fewer which could justify the big difference in prices between senior and hero. So I tend to say that hero accounts are mainly bought for prestige or scamming. So If a Sr. is running around .3 BTC, it is going to take 1500 posts to make the .3 BTC difference between .3 and .6. So only a super active poster would buy a Hero over a Sr. Member for that much of a difference. If they are buying it for more, they might be buying to scam.

It used to be that hero accounts would easily sell for well in excess of 1 BTC and often times in excess of 2.5 Btc. Today you are lucky to get .7 btc for a hero but I think the market is improving somewhat.
