Title: What's the deal with ASCII Bernanke? Post by: BrightAnarchist on August 03, 2012, 06:18:02 PM From http://pastebin.com/ZqqFEqkc
I don't get it... so Bitcoin lets anybody put any data they want into the blockchain, and we have to haul that data around forever? Is this accurate? Are there any plans to mitigate this issue? Thanks! Title: Re: What's the deal with ASCII Bernanke? Post by: dree12 on August 03, 2012, 06:20:27 PM From http://pastebin.com/ZqqFEqkc There is not a problem with this. Firstly, legitimate transactions are indistinguishable from arbitrary data. Secondly, to avoid pruning and to send the transactions in the first place, there is a cost. There are no plans to mitigate this issue because little data can be stored for a high cost, and the fact that this really isn't an issue in the first place.I don't get it... so Bitcoin lets anybody put any data they want into the blockchain, and we have to haul that data around forever? The common belief is that in case things like this would become a problem then free market would adjust the price making it more expensive. Title: Re: What's the deal with ASCII Bernanke? Post by: maaku on August 04, 2012, 02:25:50 AM Remember that when that was done transactions were effectively free and instant. Thanks to Satoshi Dice that is no longer the case, and the cost of doing your own ASCII Bernanke will only go up with time.
