A trash collector in Georgia got the shock of his life after being arrested and sentenced to 30 days in jail for collecting trash too early in violation of a city ordinance.

Waste Management Inc. trash collector Kevin McGill showed up to work two hours early and began his collections at around 5AM. But a Sandy Springs, Georgia city ordinance states that trash collection cannot begin before 7AM.

"I get up when I want except on Wednesdays when I get rudely awakened by the dustmen"   ;D

but 30 daysin Prison is bizar, they could have talked to him and tried to convince that collecting trash makes too much noise on such an early time. Furthermore, I think it is praise worthy someone gets up early and firstly thinks of his work. Nobel men should not go to prison for a minor mistake.

This is just stupid, but amazingly the comments from 'people' on this subject even more so, I hardly ever notice the lorry drivers when they go up the street, they're done so fast it usually doesn't matter much anyway, I guess I'm just not an oversensitive asshole.

Now my fucking neighbours on the other hand I DO notice a lot -_-

Jail time for this is just absurd. They should've just made him go door to door apologizing and asking people if they had any trash for him now. ::) :D

That's seriously ridiculous... I mean, how can one be sentenced to jail for like 30 days even after "cleaning" a place which is a good deed, whether before time, if he would have done it later, it might be considerable...

Although I think the prison sentence is ridiculous, I don't imagine this guy did as much "cleaning" as he usually does when he does his pick-ups on time. Surely he must have just driven by many households that didn't get their garbage to the curb yet.

Whether or not did he get the garbage to the curb, but the OP clearly says that the trash collector was sentenced to jail for collecting it "early" in violation of a city ordinance...

Seriously??? Violation???

After all the attention this got they cut his sentence to time served. He still got a record now for something this stupid. Seems he got reprimanded several times for doing his job too early. But why not just make the company fire him? Or change to another company? Or fine the company for the violation?

We have to remember that rules are rules and they should not be broken. Although the sentence for this was a bit harsh, I'm sure a fine would have been enough :D
