Title: Old Hardware for Purchase? Post by: Blackbird0 on March 10, 2015, 09:54:44 PM Hey folks, here's a question.
I've been doing legal research on encryption for a while (article on the fifth amendment forthcoming this spring!), and I've been slowly acquiring old mining hardware in order to familiarize myself with various crytocurrencies' ecosystems. Here's my question: I'm not looking to make money, or make an economic investment, but just to purchase some old hardware so that I can mine any SHA-256 or Scrypt based currency in appreciable amounts such that I can fool around with it enough. I'm not looking for the latest and greatest, just something enough to eke out a few of whatever currency I end up screwing around with more. (I've been mostly messing with PPC and DOGE). Any idea where I can find people looking to offload old hardware or anything? Is Ebay the best option? Title: Re: Old Hardware for Purchase? Might be too much for what you're looking for, though. Title: Re: Old Hardware for Purchase? Title: Re: Old Hardware for Purchase? Post by: Blackbird0 on March 10, 2015, 10:25:27 PM Thanks! Yeah, $180 might be too much. Hoping to just buy one or two small things ~$100.

Hoping to just buy one or two small things ~$100. sounds like you might just want an antminer S1 ($30). but if you pay for power and have a budget <$100 your best bet is to just buy some BTC instead. Well first you need to decide if you want scrypt or sha-256.You can look on ebay although the prices will be higher. You can look around here for the best prices most likely.I've been doing legal research on encryption for a while (article on the fifth amendment forthcoming this spring!), and I've been slowly acquiring old mining hardware in order to familiarize myself with various crytocurrencies' ecosystems. I PMd him regarding this. I'll let him decide who to sell it to. Title: Re: Old Hardware for Purchase? Post by: MCHouston on March 11, 2015, 07:51:15 PM Since the OP was the one that was directed at, he has first chance.
If he doesn't want it I will go by forum time stamp of who replied first. I will do the comparison once OP decides if he wants it or not. Title: Re: Old Hardware for Purchase? Post by: Blackbird0 on March 13, 2015, 04:36:31 PM Thanks for all the replies, folks! I figured everything out, so I'm no longer looking to purchase anything.
