Title: Autoban in modlog.php Post by: botany on March 11, 2015, 12:44:11 AM When I look at modlog.php, I see that autoban has been applied against a particular user 4 times.
Why would this happen? Autoban user: N/A in topic #0 by member #377979 Autoban user: N/A in topic #0 by member #377979 Autoban user: N/A in topic #0 by member #388502 Autoban user: N/A in topic #0 by member #388491 Nuke user: N/A in topic #0 by member #474147 Autoban user: N/A in topic #0 by member #386380 Autoban user: N/A in topic #0 by member #385824 Autoban user: N/A in topic #0 by member #383074 Autoban user: N/A in topic #0 by member #378820 Autoban user: N/A in topic #0 by member #377979 Autoban user: N/A in topic #0 by member #377285 Autoban user: N/A in topic #0 by member #376696 Autoban user: N/A in topic #0 by member #375205 Autoban user: N/A in topic #0 by member #353864 Autoban user: N/A in topic #0 by member #345394 Autoban user: N/A in topic #0 by member #343699 Autoban user: N/A in topic #0 by member #340169 Autoban user: N/A in topic #0 by member #377979 Title: Re: Autoban in modlog.php Post by: BitcoinFr34k on March 11, 2015, 12:54:02 AM This is speculation, however I would say that calci (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=377979) was doing something that very much attracted the attention of 4 (or maybe 3) admins.
Either that or whoever banned him via his profile had connection problems and clicked the 'back" button on their browser which caused the ban action to be applied to the account multiple times (they would have actually had to have clicked it a total of three times). This sometimes happen when people are leaving trust for someone Title: Re: Autoban in modlog.php Post by: TotalShift on March 11, 2015, 01:08:03 AM It could be different mods responding to the reports. I think the mods have no way of knowing if the account is banned or not. I think only the admins can see flashing red in the profile of a ban user.
Autoban that appears in modlog is permabanned by the mods. I wonder what calci did to get permanbanned. Posts may not appear too bad until you multiply it times 14 and realize he made ~200 similar posts in the past 2 days. First ban was the ban, second was because I already had a tab open for that profile and hitting ban again was faster than refreshing the page to see if I had banned that one. The last 2 were IP bans (rest were regular account bans) after I was done to increase the amount of evil on those IPS for a while, they'll decay over time.
