"The Bitcoin digital currency is perfect for micro-transactions, and does not have the high fees associated with CCs. Digital currency is the perfect medium – by which artists and content creators can receive direct financial support from their fans, without any third party payment processors gouging both sides with fees..."

If you want a maximum 1% fee (for example), then Bitcoin currently requires a transaction of at least ~$3.00 USD, which is still pretty high to cover all "micro-transactions", but it certainly is better than credit cards.

Wow, this is interesting after reading the above post I went to the article, as I was reading I thought ProTip worked a very specific way, and said wow that's a fantastic idea, then I went to the Protip website and read something different and wasn't as sure what the program was about, if this was a start up offer or what, so I went to the crowdfunding campaign.  There is where I read more of the same like the site but was able to view the video and that's when I finalized the fact that it was not as I initially envisioned.

My idea for you guys is totally different than your model, get at me for info before I forget it.

I get that it's a browser plugin for social media and webpages, but how is it any different than ChangeTip?

Did I miss something somewhere? The Webpage for Protip is not very helpful. Anything PayPal is blocking.... must be good.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

The only thing I can see is the fact that ProTip is Opensource. ----> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYjeevK9_RU

The guys are getting serious interest, so I guess it's something people want....

Dude, you're right again ProTip is the same as https://www.changetip.com/, there's going to be some issues there if protip does really well and changetip could afford a good lawyer.

Hi,
Glad to see some interest in the ProTip project. I want to talk about a few comments in this thread but first I am going to explain ProTip in simple terms.

A browser plug in that automaticly detects bitcoin addresses on websites, at the end of the week it tells you which websites you spent the most time at and asks you if it is ok to tip them. You decide how much you want to tip every week and it is split up between the sites you approve. You can also subscribe to sites and send them a tip every week or delist sites you do not want to support. Simply load the plug in which is a wallet with some tipping funds and you are ready to go.

If you want a maximum 1% fee (for example), then Bitcoin currently requires a transaction of at least ~$3.00 USD, which is still pretty high to cover all "micro-transactions", but it certainly is better than credit cards.

The tips are sent once a week in bulk transactions in order to avoid the problem with fees taking too much of the tip ammount.

All funds are sent on the blockchain.

You control all of the data collected there is no third party risk of protip getting the data of which sites you vist ect.

All that is needed is that the websites have a  bitcoin address on them, that is it. CT relies on third party apis.

You do not need to physicaly send each tip is is semi-automatic, saves time and reduces tipping friction.

ProTip thread here on bitcointalk coming soon.
