Title: Dealing with swearing too much
Post by: Decksperiment on March 16, 2015, 02:13:18 AM
Create a fight thread, (Fight Corner) where this is the only place you can swear, be abusive, say what you want, doing so anywhere else, temp/perm ban, this'll clean the site up of useless garbage from 'clean' user's.. obviously mark it with xxx, since tit's like vod like putting up porn picture's, which should really be banned.

You know you are perm ignored, proving you are clearly trolling, which is against the forum rules, you may get away with it just now, but wait for the new forum.. go find someone else to troll with, cause I cant hear you, speak up!!

I do not think be a "troll" is against the forum rules, however I don't like the idea because if you want to "fight" this is not an arena this is a bitcoin forum. Maybe the best section for do this is the off topic section.

Actually, I was thinking of tidying up the swearing and keeping it in a particular subforum, like the off topic section.. swearing is obviously gonna happen as religions do online battle.. look at the scuientific proof of god thread.. I know I'm guilty.. but if I was'nt there, it would continue.. as long as the swearing is allowed, it should be kept where the young noobs dont copy all of us, I only mentioned this, cause as a scotsman, I say fuck a lot moe than most, and think it should be contained by rules .. allowed, but contained in a place with 'explicit language' warning..

And trolling is against forum rules, I read mreps fud thread.. yup, trolling is not allowed..

So why do you troll?

Look at your first post in this thread.  You lied (you always lie) and brought my name into it for no reason.  You expected me to reply to the false accusations.

That is your trolling.  You should be kept to your religious bs thread.

I don't think a new subforum, but maybe you can add a text filter? So You enter swears and they are turned to ****?

i kinda agree to this, in the current forum we cant say what we want to say ( i guess) i think we need a section (subsection maybe) where we can express our thoughts in mind and the section cannot be moderated, of course post doesnt count there to avoid spam for sigs..

What's wrong with a bit of swearing? I see a bit on this forum but never seen a thread were it has been over the top.
And as for porn pics, I don't think full on porn pics should be aloud because there is a few kids here (or at least some people that act like kids) but don't get rid of the hot asian girls thread, that would just be too much.

I used to frequent a forum that had an "Elsewhere" board where virtually anything was allowed except for obvious things like spambots. You could swear, make ad hominems, troll, etc. Threads that were considered pointless or worthless by the mods were also moved to this section. It worked pretty well for the most part although sometimes the drama spilled over to the legitimate boards.

I'm not sure if this forum implements it but NSFW tags are probably enough. They could be hidden by default and only accessed by clicking a button or by changing your account settings to show them by default.

I've never posted a porn picture.

Depending on who you ask, Peter Griffin licking his boob can be considered porn.

Vod, I'm surprised at you. Such sexist double-standards have no place on this forum. :P

are we all children that must be put in a corner to deal with issues? whats wrong with a bit of harsh language? cursing is language and language especially as text are ideas and ideas should be freely expressed. censorship in any form is worse than any porn pic or 3/4 letter word.. and has no place on the internet
if swearing bothers u so much u should consider disconnecting from the web not disconnecting the web from u

I'm sure that swearing too much is against the rules anyway so I dont know why this has been brought up especially by a verteran member and a well respected one at that

Its not, excessive unneccessary colorful language does make your post more likely to be deleted though. If you want to call someone an asshole, you are welcome to do so, if you want to call someone and their family a string of words that would make a sailor faint, it still isn't necessarily against the rules, but it can be deleted if its so distracting that its going to drag everything off topic.

People have their own forms of expression, if you dont like how many obscenities someone sprinkles into their posts, you are free to ignore them. We aren't going to tell people to talk differently, the amount of 10 year olds on this forum who can't handle the language is at a minimum. If you are someone with delicate sensibilies, you can click the ignore button.

FWIW OP is conflating two issues (at least). Saying things like 'fuck me sideways' or whatever is not the same as being abusive. Being abusive has no place anywhere really.
