Title: Question about Ban Evasion
Post by: qwer312 on March 17, 2015, 07:09:29 AM
i know that posting outside Meta is prohibited  (Ban Evasion) when one of your accounts is banned (with days), but what about if your accounts got banned permanently? would you still be limited to post here in meta or now free to post anywhere in the forum?

It would be the same of course. What is the point of banning permanently if you still allowed to post freely?

25. If you get banned (temporary or permanently) and create a new account to continue posting / sending PMs, it's considered ban evasion. The only exception is creating a thread in Meta about your ban.

Its not only outside of meta you can only discuss your own ban. So its considered ban evasion if you hijack other threads in meta as well. Usually you have to be particularly spammy and annoying though.

Besides that, no you are not allowed to create a new account just because one of your accounts was panned permanently. AFAIK you can reappeal after some time (1-2 months?) has passed.

then if someone is permanently banned there is no way he can post again anywhere in this forum? or likewise what should the banned person do so that he can post again outside Meta?

Try to appeal your ban by emailing the specified email on your ban message, or create a thread on Meta.

If the ban appeal is denied, just try appealing again in 30 days. While permanent bans are permanent, sometimes Admins will reconsider if you haven't caused any issue and wait 30 days, sometimes longer.

so a permanent banned account still have chance to be unbanned if they wait 30 days then post appeal here?

Yes. I think 30 days isn't a factor, 'how you appeal' is.

There is a chance however it is not a guarantee that your appeal will be granted. A ban that has a specific timeframe will automatically expire, assuming that you do not later evade your ban. A perm ban however will not automatically expire.

If you try to evade your ban by posting outside of meta then you will likely quickly get your other accounts banned which will result in you waisting your money from either buying accounts that get banned or your "proxy tax" aka what you pay for registering an account with units of evil going to waste.

Wasn't there an email that you can send your appeal to, directly to theymos?  Or was that for something else?

Yes, in same case there is an "univocal" email for send the appeal to theymos. In other cases there is not the email, so the unique thing to do is open a thread here in the meta section.
