Rakuten Starts Accepting Bitcoin

Japanese e-commerce giant Rakuten Inc. has started accepting bitcoin for purchases in the U.S., adding momentum to the rapid growth of cryptocurrencies as a form of payment.

Customers using the company’s virtual shopping mall in the U.S. site can already buy items using the Internet-based currency, a Rakuten spokesperson in Japan said Tuesday.

This was already posted in this section 3 hours ago. Maybe it would be a good idea check if the article is posted to avoid spamming the board.

Yup, this has been all over the media.
Personally, I would give more importance to mainstream media (like WSJ, CNBC or Reuters) than a website focused on cryptocurrency.

It's probably not that healthy to blame someone for a post considering they're likely generating that post from a foreign mention. But, now that you've mentioned it, the point is well taken.

So if I write the same story and syndicate it to all of the publications you mentioned above, you'll believe it more if it was WSJ?  Why?  Is it more right?

Most of these "Bitcoin News" websites are not really reliable (CoinDesk seems okay to me) + sometimes you can find important information when you read the same story again on another website (e.g. some articles about Rakuten accepting Bitcoin don't even mention future expansion plans to Germany and Austria -- as someone who lives in Austria, that's definitely something I want to know)

If you read the guidelines for the press forum you'll see that the point is to collect links of notability. Articles in Bitcoin specific sites doesn't really have notability, which makes them off topic. The press forum isn't supposed to include all kinds of articles that some person with a bitcoin blog can make up, and it's not supposed to list every tiny bit of Bitcoin related news. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=76487.0

I just noticed that @Rakuten_at tweeted about Bitcoin (https://twitter.com/Rakuten_at/status/582598189871681536)- this could mean that they will be integrating Bitcoin in other countries soon.
