If you take a look at the known foreigner jihadists in ISIS you will see that one of the biggest contributor is Tunisia. In next door Libya the local ISIS branch is also gaining ground rather quickly. So he could be easily a terrorist.

I would never visit the middle east and affected African states where this issue of these ISIS/ISIL militants are and they have lax security, and Tunisia most definitely falls into that category. Why are western governments not telling their people not to bother travelling to these places? If these people are ISIS expect more casualties, possibly all.

Another part of a bbc article :

British, Italian, French and Spanish nationals were among those taken hostage, local radio reported. The shooting happened at the Bardo Museum, which is next to the parliament building in central Tunis. At the time of the attack deputies were discussing anti-terrorism legislation. Parliament has now been evacuated. "A terrorist attack [targeted] the Bardo Museum," interior ministry spokesman Mohamed Ali Aroui told journalists. He said that the attack involved "two or more terrorists armed with Kalashnikovs". Most tourists were evacuated but some were still believed to be inside, Mr Aroui said, adding that security forces had entered the museum. The museum, renowned for its collection of antiquities, is a major attraction in Tunis.

I don't know if they are "affiliated" to the ISIS group, or only a "crazy" separated terrorist operation. I will report here more articles in the next few hours.

I thought Tunisia had no terrorists or such groups claiming killings. I just visited Tunisia last year and it seemed like a peaceful place. Can't believe this happening.
Seems a lot of unexpected attacks have been happening in Africa this year.

Na. I go there all the time. I just got back about two months ago from Jordan. I was there when they caught that pilot who was burned alive. But when you are in the mid east you realize how local many of these events are. It's a little like Japanese tourists in the USA. They are often very frightened of gang violence. Convinced that motorcycle gangs will attack the tour bus Mad Max style. When you live in the US you can see how silly that is, even though there are violent gangs here.

Very few people support DASCH. They are often the butt of jokes and the subject of scorn. People say things like "maybe if we pray for DASCH they'll convert to Islam." Or the guy I met who, upon seeing my beard, asked if I was here to join the Jihad. I told him I tried, but they kicked me out for being "too radical".  You would think that joke is too dark to be funny, but there are a lot of dark Jihadi jokes.

I heard some Polish citizens were killed in the attack. I found it odd that they targeted tourists, as those people are bringing money to the country and don't pose a threat in any way. If you have a problem with your government maybe attack them instead, you cowards? All captured murderers should be skinned alive in public.

Attacks like that are the reason why people won't be coming to islam controlled countries anymore. Egypt and Tunisia both lost so much money on this islamic jihad nonsense. They are digging their own grave at this point. If they want to be hated by everyone they are great at making it real.

Was it a "gun free zone"? Apparently you can carry a gun in Tunisia with a license, but considering the museum's proximity to Parliament, they probably banned licensed guns there.

The thing about terrorist or anyone willing to kill is that none of that matters.

Definitely matters: would you attack a gun store where every single employee (and at least half customer base) carries a gun and could shoot you instantly? No, you'd attack defenseless victims. Or fire explosive ordnance at the gun store from out of their sight.

The attack on a museum in the capital of Tunisia has its roots in NATO’s destabilization of neighboring Libya, during which terrorists affiliated with Al-Qaeda were armed and funded in the effort to topple Colonel Gaddafi.

"A statement released by the Tunisian President said five of those arrested were suspected of being directly connected to the attack, while four others allegedly had links to the gunmen but were based outside of the capital of Tunis, where the shooting took place. The attackers were described as part of a 'cell' but it is not known if they were part of a larger group."

Destabilizing the country and spreading poverty (by keeping paying customers away) is a good way to radicalise some desperate people.

The scourge of dignity that is tourism will persist until all national borders are little more than bitter memories.

Yes you are right, people are poor so they will do everything for a "couple of bucks".

The scourge of dignity that is tourism will persist until all national borders are little more than bitter memories.

People should not visit country at risk (no one knew that Tunisi was one of these country) but they will go in the same way.

According to daily newspaper Al Sabah, Moroccan authorities have raised the terror alert level after gunmen in Tunisia killed and injured tens of people, mostly tourists, who were visiting the Bardo Museum, a popular attraction among tourists for its collections of archeological artifacts and Roman mosaics. The same source said that emergency meetings were being held throughout Morocco in order to examine ways of strengthening and enhancing the security vigilance, adding that intelligence services are working extra hard to track “lone wolves”, the main source of concern at the moment for the Moroccan authorities.Al Ahdath Al Maghribiya also confirmed the news.
....
Moroccan Prime Minister and Head of Government Abdelilah Benkirane also stressed that what happened in Tunisia is not an isolated case, and that the entire region should be concerned by this threat. On Thursday, March 19th, Mustapha El Khalfi, the Moroccan Minister of Communications and spokesperson of the government, told the press at the end of the government council that the government is aware of the danger, adding that what happened in Tunisia should keep us alert and on permanent vigilance.

While I realize it is foolish to introduce even a hint of common sense into anything the Islamist State says or does, I really have to ask how this organization can possibly use the words "fighters" and "knights" to describe these murderers. These cowards appeared and turned assault rifles against innocent, unarmed, peaceful tourists who all appeared to be middle-aged or elderly. What type of "fighting" could that possibly entail? And the true knights of old - who lived and died by a very strong and strict code of honor - must be turning in their graves at this comparison.

Hold your head up high ISIS, you sucessfully murdered unarmed people, AGAIN. What a bunch of "brave fighting tigers" your are - you pathetic losers. Why is it that ISIS only fights when the odds are 1000% in their favor? Because they are chicken #$%$! Where the rest of the islamic world crying out, condeming this cold blodded murder.

Tunisia has turned out to be the prime recruiting ground for ISIS. The majority of the ISIS members fighting in Libya are Tunisian citizens. And there are at least 7,000 of them fighting in Syria (probably much more).

"Tunisia's prime minister has dismissed six police commanders, including those in charge of tourist security and an intelligence brigade.
Monday's decision by Habib Essid follows the March 18 attack on the National Bardo Museum in Tunis, which killed 21 people, 20 of whom were foreign tourists. Mofdi Mssedi, the prime minister's office spokesman, said the six also included an intelligence brigade chief, the Tunis district police chief, the traffic police commander, a Bardo Museum security chief and a commander for the capital's Sidi Bachir district.
"Prime Minister Habib Essid visited the Bardo Museum yesterday [Sunday] and took note of several security failures there," Mssedi said.
Armed men killed foreign tourists, including Japanese, Polish, Italian and Spanish visitors, last Wednesday as they got off buses at the Bardo Museum, inside the parliament compound that is normally heavily guarded."

Chanting "Tunisia is free! Terrorism out!" they marched to the Bardo Museum, the scene of an attack in which 21 tourists and a Tunisian died.
French President Francois Hollande and other world leaders attended a ceremony at the museum. Hours earlier, Tunisian authorities said that they had killed one of the prime suspects in the attack. Gunmen stormed the museum in Tunis on 18 March. British, Japanese, French, Italian and Colombian tourists were among the dead. On Sunday, President Hollande announced that Huguette Dupeu, a Frenchwoman injured in the attack, had died from her wounds. As well as the French leader, Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and other foreign dignitaries attended a ceremony at the museum where a stone tablet was dedicated to the memory of the attack victims. "We have shown we are a democratic people, Tunisians are moderate, and there is no room for terrorists here," demonstrator Kamel Saad told Reuters.

Another good news :

A leading suspect in a deadly museum attack on foreign tourists has been killed in anti-terrorist operations, Tunisia's prime minister said Sunday. State news agency TAP cites Prime Minister Habib Essid as saying that Khaled Chaieb, also known as Abou Sakhr Lokman, was killed overnight in an operation in the Gafsa region near the Algerian border. In all, nine terrorist suspects were killed in raids around the country. Chaieb is believed a prominent militant in al Qaeda's North African arm, and suspected of leading or helping lead the March 18 attack on the National Bardo Museum.

Rash brutality is one thing, but when it involves people appreciating the rich history of our species it makes me shudder with hatred for the perpetrators.
