So I don't see a single instance of monero or xmr in that quote?

tbh the whole section should be deleted and renamed "CRYPTONOTE". Because besides a few coins using cryptonote technology, any other coins are scamcoins. right now the biggest scam going on is darkcoin. premine and trusted 3rd parties? who the fuck thinks its a good idea ?

the monero spam is for your own good. you should buy and shut the fuck up and thank me 1 year from now.

@Steathcoin, dont believe me? Then believe reputable people :

i registered because i see the patern, we are still largely ignored, monero is fundamentally better than bitcoin but still ignored by everybody.

Well, let's see who is speaking high of Monero or CryptoNote in general and has some reputation.
  • Gregory Maxwell (most extensive example (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=7766161))
  • Andrew Poelstra, respected cryptographer and prominent Bitcoin developer (most extensive example (http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/29471/are-there-any-true-anonymous-cryptocurrencies))
  • Nicolas Courtois, academic cryptographer, 8 patents (most extensive example (http://blog.bettercrypto.com/?p=801))
  • Risto Pietilä, Bitcoin millionnaire (most extensive example (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=624223.msg6923973#msg6923973))
  • Theymos, Bitcointalk founder (most extensive example (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=885736.msg9780400#msg9780400))
  • Bullbear labelled Monero "the most interesting anon coin on the scene in our opinion" (https://bullbearanalytics.com/2015/02/24/monero-price-analysis-2232015-bull-flag-breakdown/)
  • apparently, a sizeable part of dark markets
  • on top of it, several Monero Core Team members, such as tacotime and fluffypony, had already a great reputation before entering Monero
  • probably a lot I forgot

I've seen worse ignorance.

More information: Why Monero matters (https://xmrmonero.com/?q=faq/en/why-monero-matters-prove-me-monero-not-yet-another-shitcoin), The Three Pillars of Monero (http://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/2u4m2u/the_thee_pillars_of_monero/)

Here's what satoshi thinks of ring signatures when it was first mentioned on bitcointalk :

This is a very interesting topic.  If a solution was found, a much better, easier, more convenient implementation of Bitcoin would be possible.

Should i laugh now or later ? All these guys got the coins for free, what they are doing is siting on them just look at the development.
What they want is to do their work.

What about what Satoshi said about ring signatures?

This is a very interesting topic.  If a solution was found, a much better, easier, more convenient implementation of Bitcoin would be possible.

I suggest you read the whole thread his quote is from.

The only one who's attacking Darkcoin is Evan.

1) Stole a name from an already used coin, accidently posted with the dashcoin nick on darkcoin github.
2) Made Vertoe quit because of his dictatorship.

So much for attacking.

Congrats you just quoted the Bytecoin scammers, or was all the Monero FUD done by the Darkcoiners from the beginning?

Would also explain why Evan owns the Dashcoin github, he prolly didnt need to buy it :D

And why the fuck should we FUD our own project...I know of better ways to burn my money...

If we want to bring the price down we can just do stupid shit like renaming to DASH.
And if you read my (painful to read) post history you find out that i unveiled who was behind the btcexpress fud.

Makes sense what u say, first we fud and then i undo-fud. because makes sense, or not.

What fellow leader do i need to ask, as a core member myself, the aliens who created cryptonote? barack obama? adolf putin? angie merkle?

No fucking idea what you talk about, or how some weird pump group belongs to the Monero team, as they certainly don't. Risto alone has prolly more cash as those guys anyway.

Maybe you should do something about those illegal pump and dump groups if you know them so good? I would even help you.

Hi Stealthcoin.

As one of the Monero Core Team (https://getmonero.org/knowledge-base/people) members I feel I'm in a unique position to answer some of these claims.

To preface this: Monero is a cryptocurrency that is slightly inflationary (to ensure there is always a reason to mine instead of relying on a perfect fee market in future) instead of deflationary. In other words, the amount of Monero that will be created is infinity. Logically, then, Monero's value will NEVER increase based on restricted supply / rarity alone.

Thus, on the face of it, it's a terrible investment. In line with that, I have often told people NOT to buy Monero, the best example of that is this conversation: http://log.bitcoin-assets.com/?date=11-12-2014#951020. Similarly, David Latapie and myself did a 3 hour, 45 minute, interview with Doged Radio, and even the host noticed that we didn't launch into a recommendation that anyone buy Monero. If you have some time it's worth a listen, even though it takes a little while to get going: https://www.mixcloud.com/dogedradio/monero-coin-interview/

Any significant growth in Monero's price will come demand as a direct result of an increase in usefulness and usability, not from "pump groups" or anything else.

As a core team we have spent way more money than we've received in donations (see our financial report in our 2014 Year in Review (https://getmonero.org/2015/01/05/monero-missive-2014-year-in-review.html) for details). We are not particularly wealthy people, and every cost we incur beyond donations is a punch to our gut, but we do it because we are building Monero into something more than just a private cryptocurrency. Our Design and Development Goals is a good indication of that: https://getmonero.org/design-goals/

I appreciate that you're annoyed, and tempers run high in this section of the forum, but I trust you will find it within yourself to step away from your screen, have a beer or a whisky or a glass of wine, and come back refreshed and with a fresh view on the matter.

But there's nothing we can do about other people.

This section needs an active moderation team and strict rules.

Monero gave the cryptocurrency world OpenAlias (https://openalias.org), so next time you open Electrum and send a payment to donate@getmonero.org just remember that Bitcoin would still require you use an address to make a payment were it not for Monero.

fluffypony i don't want to trash your coin of something.... but your Fanboys really need to get their shit straight and stop shilling and FUDing other coins.
Real coins grow without the need to trash other coins only scam coins need this.

The only guy that is trolling is iCEBREAKER (if you would've read his posts, you would know he does this every once in a while and is notorious for it). I can't believe that you are so narrow-minded that you let your view on a coin depend on only 1 guy.

the "blackhand group" was pumping Monero, and still is. You should know my eyes are not only here on Bitcointalk.
So spare yourself this low accusation give me some real arguments.

What is it that you hope to achieve?

The Monero team cannot do anything about these "pump groups", spammers, scammers, FUDers infesting other threads.

Judging by the repetitive drivel about pump groups, I'd suspect that Stealthcoin is fishing for someone to contact him.

Obviously protesting a bit too much.

As for the other bumps, he should have just bumped the entire threads rather than repost them here. Much more information for people to go through.

He won't though, because he's fishing.

Stealthcoin plz. Pump groups here choke on XMR. Go check out Ryans thread, where he posts sweet gainz on bittrex, you know, the exchange with <1 BTC worth of volume of XMR pretty much ever? Yeah, he was a big part of that one. Good thing 'pump groups' are pumping monero on exchanges with less than 1% of the daily volume across the market.

They don't only FUD and spam the whole Alternate section with useless stuff ! No they even want you to stop posting into your main Thread of your altcoin.

Small teaser in here

The latest shift for the Xpool Multipool (http://www.xpool.ca) paid out over 12+ DRK, 40+ BTCD, 73+ FIBRE & 0.075+ BTC.

** We are merge mining on all algos. X11: Unitus - SCRYPT: Dogecoin & ViaCoin & SysCoin & PesetaCoin & GreenCoin - SHA256: DevCoin & NameCoin.

Any problems, please PM as I may miss your post.

Cheers!

Advertising spam is not allowed, this includes mining pools, gambling services, exchanges, shops, etc. Mining pool ops should make a thread within the Mining section of Alt Currencies. Most OP's already link to pools available so advertising your pool is unnecessary and leads to too much spam. Exchanges, shops, gambling sites, etc, should make a thread in the Marketplace section of Alt Currencies.

Enough already.  A paltry 40 BTCD isn't something to brag about.  It makes BTCD look like a zombie coin with minimal interest/network security.

Bitcoin/Monero Fanboys in action. And you ask yourself why there are so many Scams around...
looks like we found who is not that happy about other altcoins.

By the way [mprep] when you delete/clean the altcoin section don't forget to do this on Monero threads too. Because it looks like that you are only here to "Censor" other coins from here.

Monero is not in that quote at all. Also the problem with where that quote most likely came from is a mining pool thread outside of the altcoin mining subform. Mining pool operators got to crazy about a year ago and starting advertising their pools in all sorts of different subforums and hence that rule is not enacted to limit the amount of mining pool spam threads.

Next time that you are trying to link this issue to a specific altcoin please.....well be more specific

Nice thread, Stealthcoin!

You covered most of the points of their pump and dump (scamming) scheme.

fluffypony talks about demand ?  :D :D :D :D :D

Where're the merchants already adopted Monero ? Where's the exchanges/markets (except their POLO bastion)?  ;D
Everyone with simple trading knowledge should find why their members spreading FUD 24/7 in DASH/other alts thread ..
They're at the current top and their shills searching for victims to empty their bags for the next pump & dump cycle..
Three ~100% p&d for three months :D .

BadBear wrote the rules, I'm just quoting him.

Shooting the messenger won't make pool spam OK.

This guy's posting history is mostly pool spam.

Why do you like pool spam so much?  That's weird.
