They are either privately funded or have investment open to public

They would probably require more than 1000 BTC to even get the max bet to 10BTC. You can try to get private investors or allow gamblers to buy a stake.

Primedice started with something like $5k I believe Stunna saying a year or so ago. Now they're worth probably like 10 million lol.

Not much I guess.

My estimation is at least 500btc, maybe even more, if start a legit gambling site.

Buy software supplier costs a lot, hiring software engineers, website develops, customer services agents, promotion, marketing, and bankroll, they are all big costs indeed.  8)

Sometimes you have a good website, but lacks of good promotion and marketing, it won't be successful.

In general, no rollover giveaways in the forum cost a lot(several btc), 3-40X no deposit bonus would be much better.  ;D

It all depends on how much you want to invest.

primary things are
hosting
development of the game
design
funding the initial bankroll to provide the first wins
advertising/marketing

hosting, development and design are pretty straight forward, you can find a hoster and a developer for a fixed price and pretty cheap if you want

furthermore think about how much would be the max jackpot for someone to take home?
what is the house edge?

do the math and see if you can get it in your budget.

Well the basic costs would be:

1) Website design
2) Programming the front end with connection to a bitcoin wallet/service
3) Website hosting

As far as getting the initial bankroll you could always start off super small without a large investment and then just top the max win at something way smaller than your initial bankroll.

For example You could start with just $1 of bitcoin and have the max win of $0.001, meaning that people would just place bets lower than they would win with the max bet. Then as you build up a bankroll you can keep raising the max win.

The trick with that type of scenario is to get people that would be willing to make micro bets, thousands of statoshis or less per bet....which you'd be surprised to find out how many people do just that!

If you have to ask...you don't got the funds.

Should you have the funds...you should check out a trusted, already proven top bitcoin gambling site like https://bitcoinvideocasino.com/, which is for sale

If you have to ask you do not have the knowledge, who says he does not have the funds and is pondering what to do with it?

Buying a casino is a whole different game, it requires more funds than starting a new one from scratch, but the time of ROI might be shorter and the income and userbase more stable.

Usually depends on the kind of site you want to launch. It isn't necessary that you have to bankroll it. Sites like poker require no bankroll, but only the initial cost of launching the site. You can do that for anywhere between 1-10 BTC or more, all depending on the kind of website you want to launch.

I'd imagine proper DDOS protection and regular security audits to be a fairly significant recurring cost along with all the rest listed by other replies.

You should have also a knowledge of the code, and an high quantity of bitcoin (less than 1000 bitcoins). After you can start to think about a creation of a gambling site, remember the advertising (like a sign campaign, or banner here in the forum) and prepare a lot of promotion and bounties.

Well you got a few replies on how much capital you might need but if you don't have any knowledge about programming, site management etc. You're going to end up losing your investments, either to a poor script or backdoor attacks.

To actually start a a gambling site you will actually need like 5k $ i guess, that will be the cost to actually get a good script, fix some backdoor error, DDOS protection and also some maintenance for the site

not including your site's bankroll that will be depending on your sites, if you wish to lure in heavy gambler, then you will need to provide quite a huge bankroll, but something like 50 btc for bankroll will already be a decent to start

I have though of it myself. I think the cheapest and fastest way is to buy a site and hire a trusted programmer to review and modify the code. Then spend a bucket load on marketing. Investment capital depends on the maximum bet you want to set. $5k is not going to be enough.

It depends, you can spend a lot and force your way in or cut the expenses and probe the market. If you want to go cheap the cost of hosting can be low, because you won't have high traffic from the start. Same thing with a domain, you don't have to buy an expensive one. The rest depends on how much you can do yourself or with friends. Maybe you or someone you know could help you make the site or advertise on social media.

Not as much as you think...

Domain $20
SSL $100
Dedicated Hosting $100 mo
DDOS/WAF $30 mo
Scripts/Coding (premade or custom) $3k-$5k
Bankroll $1000 (depends)
Total: ~$6200

You could cut a few corners, choose cheaper riskier hosting, buy a crappy pre-made script for cheap, less bankroll, no ssl... etc.

Setting up the software isn't so difficult. It can be done for less than $10,000. The most difficult and most expensive part will be to convince players to bet at the new site.

Most of money will you need for first wins and get popularity. On internet are many sites like this so you must be original too, it iwll help you more than anything other.
Someone who is trusted can help you with promote your site. Maybe little campaign in tv can help you if it is legal at your state.

Crappy premade scripts usually come with an backdoor or it is unoriginal. Gamblers are more attracted to those sites who are custom made. The bankroll of $1000 is very low. You can try to find a few friends to be the investors. You would also need to pay a team of developers to help you with stuff of you don't have much coding and pentesting skills.

You guys forget the software fees.

Many casinos have the same slots, bj, video poker, live casino, because they use the same software.

How much does one slot game cost? And 3D slot must be very expensive, like 1000 USD per game?

Think it highly depends on what you can do yourself, coding, design etc.
