Title: Scrypt.cc possibly collapsed and stolen my .012 btc
Post by: lottery248 on March 22, 2015, 05:23:53 AM
if you still have access to scrypt.cc and you can withdraw, do it as soon as possible.

here is the ref link to the main topic of the site : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=444495.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=444495.0)

reason:

when i was looking for the site, it became :
https://i.imgur.com/11y68WH.png

also, it is a ponzi, as great referral program, anonymous operator, no such picture evidence, no provable physical offices, guest are not accessible to their forum. additional information: payouts are supposed to be in each block, not fixed period. selling 850Gh/s but no ability to find where is it.
update : scrypt.cc refused to provide the evidence of mining.
the site didn't even credit my coins.
proof of payment: https://blockchain.info/tx/852223803240ac52440279a7a1dd3af5b645c90c829aa522a0c75ffec164e922
what is my screen after confirmation:

one more thing :
Quote
June 22, 2015 - Around 24 hours ago, I (Marcelo Santos AKA Admin) was finishing our server upgrade, We've been doing the switch step by step for the past two weeks. The last part was the accounts database and the trade engine. I put a notice up here around the time I was finishing the switch, users that were online at the time probably noticed. After I completed, I ran a upgrade on the new server and left on a personal trip with my family in which I was unreachable until now.

Around 14 hours ago our database was breached, the hacker credited himself BTC and KHS and withdrew BTC until our withdraw wallet was empty. He then proceeded to make suspicious orders in the market in which the market automatically turned itself off. This sent a alert to myself and other support staff, one of them seeing what was happening but not being able to do much as he does not have back-end access, he enabled our "Panic" mode in which put the whole site on lock down. But the hackers still managed to gain access and steal the coins from the hot wallet and the backup withdraw wallet.

Bad news: We had a large amount of BTC stolen, most of which were ours.
Good news: Our server runs hourly database backups and a backup was made minutes before their first attack and right before the lock down. So all user information is safe.

The site will stay online while we investigate further and plan out our next steps.
Balances will show 0 for the time being as we work on the database.

According to the blockchain some users are still depositing into their accounts, DO NOT MAKE ANY MORE DEPOSITS since the hackers still have access to the hotwallets.

Please have patience and I'll keep everyone updated as we execute our next steps.
as a result, scrypt.cc is a scam, i predicted it before.

I'm pretty sure there is no legitimate cloud mining company. Hash profit, pbmining etc. all collapsed.

We have better ways to invest our money anyways.

They sell miners, they're not cloud mining companies.

You can't compare the two.

Frontpage working fine for me. Admin is working on the Site. Adding some Options (automatic reinvest and chat for different languages),
maybe that is the problem.

but yea, sell your shares. no problem with that :)

The site isn't collapsed, it was a simple CSS error

True. There are guaranteed ways to fake it. But the danger you have everywhere.

Can say so much in any case: The admin is regularly chatting. Is always very friendly and funny. And he constantly building in new functionality.

So at the moment it absolutly don't feel like a Scam. And the withdraws still working instant.
Of course, you can never be too careful. So I let there not unlimited money on the server.

I also think that it is a scam. At their status page, it used to show the coins they are mining, but they never reveal what coin it is (they just use 'Coin (16)', 'Coin (1)' etc.).
However today it even shows 'Error Establishing a Connection; Server Offline'. Maybe the scammers started to run out of power and they wanted to cashout soon. Luckily I've withdrew all funds there a month ago. I recommend everyone to withdraw there, too.

I'n in the same boat thinking that scrypt has been a ponzi for a while, but this is just complete FUD, it looks like the site didnt load either completely or correctly on your end, i just opened it and it looks fine. think for a second before you open these accusation threads.

A still lasting one. I believe they managed to pull it out so far because there were not as many cloud mining sites when they started out, unlike now where
you have one on every corner of the forum. Some people still made nice money there, but every time you try to log in, or try to make a withdraw, heartbeat rises  ::)

:( they are still believing that scrypt.cc is legit while site wasn't proven of the source of the coins.

what a convenient series of excuses; all the btc is suddenly gone now due to a "hack" but dont worry, all your user information is safe so its all ok. looks like it might actually be collapsed now.

It was just a matter of time, from start they were shady, but some people still made good money there.
I dont believe anyone sane will believe how this "hack" actually happened, its crystal clear that they took the money and ran away.

what i said cloudmining are sucks you must never believe on every cloudmining service . its all bullshit.

It's not all a scam, there are legit cloudmining services, but indeed they are rare ones to find.
When a cloudmining company can't or won't deliver proof of actual mining being done, well then i call it BS.

Anyways, there's an "update" on their site now, when you log in, stating:

"

Update: Aside from the stolen coins, there's no other damage done. We have found the entry point and we're ready to move on. We're in the progress of installing a new server and should be back in business within a week.
There's a lot of speculation regarding KHS/BTC balances, all balances will be rolled back to the last backup before the lock down.
You will be forced to change your emails, password and PIN upon your first login. (These are hashed but it's good practice to reset after a breach like this).
It was a big blow, but we'll come out stronger then ever. We appreciate the patience and all of the kind words we have recieved. I'll update as we make progress.

"

* Withdraw is disabled, and as are most of the tabs in navigation menu. It all just leads to a blank page at the moment. Doesn't look good, even tho they claim to return in a week.

cheers

Oops, if withdraw is disabled, then we can't get the 'revenue' from the site. Look forward to how it goes to scam. It will probably collapse in few months as people are starting to withdraw coins there when they realize that it is a ponzi. Once a good site, but it will have a day of leaving. Just to say goodbye to scrypt.cc.

Well i for one don't share your enthusiasm regarding it tumbling down, as there were many users participating as investors, that are now going to loose their money, and once more
increase the number of bitcoin related scams.

Withdraw leads to a blank page, and so does the most of the navigation menu, so, even tho they claim to be back within a week or so, i believe their fall already happened, not that it will take them "few months to
collapse", like you stated.

It was never a "good" site, like i warned over a year ago, it was just a matter of time (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=444495.msg6044891#msg6044891)
It lasted this long because the owners made sure it looks attractive enough to invest, and obviously they had enough funds to maintain initial withdrawals.

cheers

People don't want to invest in interesting startups, who build products with long-term focus. They want to risk their life savings with gambling and ponzi schemes.

it should have been clear that site was a scam, the expected ROI was way too high to be considered a legitimate mining operation.

From their front page:
"
June 24, 2015 - Today the hackers came back in and cleaned our databases taking our chat room with it.
This doesn't effect us at all since we have many images of the database before the attack. We'll be up and running on a clean and safe server by tomorrow. Once we're on the new server, we'll rollback everyone's KHS/BTC balances prior to the attack and you will be able to login once again.
Our ETA stands at June 30th if everything runs smoothly, once we "relaunch" all user balances will be available for withdraw.
Current mining rewards are being used to recover some of the losses.
We will update once we're on the new server, Take care!
"

I laughed way harder than i should have, on this bolded part above. Do you think they will return, and that you will be able to cashout you balance? I honestly doubt it.

There's another update on their site :
"June 26, 2015 - Today we finished the move to our new server. It took longer then expected due to some difficulties we encountered.
We're now running audits on all of the accounts. Once the account's been audited and verified, that account will be able to login.
Once all of the accounts have been audited and verified we'll enable trading and withdraws."

Who knows, maybe they do return, but i'm still confident that even if they do; that there will be some "catch"

cheers

Be careful if you received following fake email:

Hi,

This email is to confirm your withdrawal request at Scrypt.CC

Withdrawal Ammount: 0.567558
To BTC Address: 18pr89dBais78mmuZc6Xs44vV5aLyUztjD

You will need to confirm this request by clicking the following link: https://scrypt***<cut>

If you did not make this request,  Click the link below to cancel it.

https://scrypt***<cut>

-----
-----

* While the first link seam to lead to scrypt.cc, the bottom one actually (altho it looks the same) leads to earn12**<cut>.biz which is a phishing website, created to steal your accounts.
