Post by: xboxsold on March 22, 2015, 08:14:01 AM
None of my request to withdraw any coins have been done just to warn everyone that trusted them after they re-opened i sent them 1bc to make purchases and they are not giving me any reply's support --or answers - my withdraws are going on 1 week waiting and ill never see it im sure.

I had pretty smooth dealings with BTER BEFORE they got hacked. You should've done some research, they've been unreliable for months.

Why did you make a deposit after the hack? I would say this is stupid.

I'm viewing their weibo account right now and I see a lot of people complaining about withdrawal issues, It seems that many people still can't get their Bitcoin back and since you're a foreigner, they might ignore you first instead of those who can complain the issue on their open media account.

You probably won't lose your money but you might need to wait for a while.

Anyway this post need to be moved to here:  Service Discussion  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=85.0)

Listen guys, you need to be careful with bitcoin/altcoin exchanges. It is safe to assume that after one successful hackers break site safety is compromised.
They probably lost all their coins or majority of it but they won't disclosure that. It happened before with Mt.Gox and other less famous exchanges.
And it will happen in the future. Never deposit coins online if you are not sure that service is legit.

Do you have any recommended places to exchange our altcoins??? I'm really in limbo when it comes to this. I was thinking Polo/Cryptsy are the best to use right now?

How about btc38.com? This is another big altcoin exchange in China, started in 2013 and looks good so far. But not much altcoins are supported out there.

It depends really on where are you from. I am familiar mostly with European exchanges since I am from EU myself. I could help you if you are of need of good EU services, but if you are from US or Asia I am not so familiar with "trustworthy" exchange markets located there.

I'm not really in need of country based (USD, EURO, AUD etc) exchanges but more just to exchange my altcoins and bitcoins from one to another. I've had many bad experiences, looking for somewhere I can call home for my coins.

I've used cryptsy for awhile now,but I NEVER leave coins there or ANYWHERE but in my wallet on one of my PC's that NEVER browses the web  8)

Don't leave any coins on any exchange any longer than needed, maybe a day or two, even that is risky in IMO.If your trading, don't put more than you can afford to lose in the exchange.

Though folks learned all this with the mighty Mt Gox fiasco  ::)

Well see when you're trading new altcoins and have over 50+ currencies, it's pretty hard to get all of the QT's updated and synced...as a matter of fact, getting them synced at all!!!
Unless I'm missing something, like a shortcut that'll allow me to do this.

... and in the mintpal, bitstamp, poloniex, bter fiasco. The exchange turned in the weak link of all the cryptocurrency eco-system, now people have started to think about a sort of real decentralized exchange (now possible only crypto <> crypto, the FIAT part is not "decentralized at 100%).

My personal system when I should change cryptocurr. with FIAT money (euros, dollars, etc...) is to send my coins to an exchange, create the sell order or the buy order (it depends) complete that "change" and withdraw immediately all  my coins.

Bter is shit 2 years ago, I registered there very early, my id is 2XX. I am the initial customers there.

But I seldom use that, I prefer btc38 and poloniex.

Reasons:

1. bter owner hanlin did bitbay coin and scammed people, you will know that story in bitbay OP.
2. bter IPO stock was shit, and delisted from stock exchange in 2013.
3. bter miner scam case, also happened in 2013.
4. bter was hacked many times, it means that it's unreliable anymore.
5. very bad user experience, trading system is old and slow.
.....

I don't wanna state anymore, so you deposited there was a BIG MISTAKE.

I just hope you can get the coin back. :D

Chinese exchanges... Maybe only Chinese should go there. Stick to exchanges which use English as the main language.

It's not because of the country in this case, as fox stated bter is a very unreliable company therefor it shouldn't be used.
I wonder why they stay online if they're continually getting "hacked". It could just be admins liquidating funds

I wouldn't deposit there anymore! I left 10k NXT there before the attack. When I was able to withdraw them, bter charged me 0.3% of fee, which is expensive. Although they don't charge trading fee, but the withdrawal fee is more than other exchanges' trading fee, like polo.

That's funny, Did you remember how many English altcoins exchange that had ran away with people's money? I'm not sure but there are more than 3 if I'm right.

Stick to Cryptsy and Kraken.
Poloniex is good too, but I don't really tend to keep a large amount there.

I didn't lose anymore than a nickle. I knew better than to trust BTER  or any other exchange.

I can't get my trading records off the BTER site. They seem to have erased them. At least Vircurex didn't erase their trading records. It would be nice to have them in case I ever have to pay some taxes.
