Title: How much BTUs does an Air Conditioner Require per KW of miners?
Post by: adaseb on March 22, 2015, 01:02:28 PM
Just preparing for the summer. Wondering what the typical BTUs are required per KW of miners.

Will a 10000 BTU airconditioner be fine for a 1000 Watt miner?

Share some input.

a watt is about 4 btu's

I round up it is more like 3.412.  so  you are putting out 3412 btu with that miner.

so you should be able to cool the room down with a 10000 btu ac.

unless you have cheap power it is very costly to ac a miner

it's better and less costly to leave it underground, if you can, with an outlet pipe for the heat

The AC cost will add up.  I would agree exhust is cheaper if you can do it.

Also some miners are hotter then others.  For example the Dragon 1T blows very hot air out back.  I think it's worst I have had on the heat.

While I have no doubt that some miners produce hotter "ehaust" air, from an AC point of view, all 1000W miners are created equal in terms of how much cooling is needed.

I got rid of it for summer.  But the 1T dragon just spits out extreme hot air.  I would argue different way's of dissipating such as heatsinks, fans, 1000 watts may be the same but some handle it better then other miners.
