I want to give free btc to newbies just starting out, i'm just wondering what regular people think I should require

started off with 10 users
0.01BTC each

Requirements:
Post here when you get out of the newbie section, leave your wallet address
Satisfy one of the following:
A. Have under 25 posts & joined within 30 days as evident on your profile page
B. Joined within 5 days, post count doesn't matter
C. Were inactive (no posts) for longer than you were active after signing up and you became active in the last 14 days & have under 75 total posts

Plus you must:
At least 2 more posts OUTSIDE of this thread within 2 days after posting here

If requirements met, will get the .01 to your address on the 3rd day, if you post Aug 16 I will send Aug 19th if you met requirements
If you fail the requirements, you may re-apply (need to start over, re-post your wallet) two more times but three strikes and you are out

I've been playing with mining for a short time with ATI 4670, 25 Mh/s @ 59W, the fastest GPU I have. ATI claimed it was the best FLOPs per Watt GPU on the market back in 2008. ;D

I know it's a waste of electricity. I don't intend to actually do it long term - I've been mining for no more than several tens of hours total with it (I've edited the original post).. Even if it is a total waste of electricity in comparison to ASICs, I still believe it may just be the easiest way for me to get some mBTCs to play with initially and explore the way the whole system works, etc.

Radeon 5830 for 300Mhash is only $80

I intended to start a mining endeavor with a friend, roughly a year ago. I planned to coax our close circle of friends into investing in our mining business - mostly in 5830-like gear or whatever we could get our hands on. As far as I remember we roughly evaluated in few days of brainstorming that the overall prospects in short and medium term were not good - we seemed to be too late in the game, FPGAs and ASICs and speculations about renewable energy miners were already on horizon, the ROI would be low, we'd have to invest in *all* supporting gear (MBOs and PSUs..) and as far as I knew all hardware is very roughly 30%, maybe even 40% more expensive to get in Croatia then in US..

We instead chose to focus on one other totally unrelated business idea, web app for ordering transportation in Croatia. Now that I'm finished with that app, I'm back into Bitcoin and ICT. BTW, that friend is thinking about starting to build his own electric windmill(s).

I would just like to say this is a very commendable thing you are doing and I wish someone did this when I was new around here!
