What about power efficiency? It looks to be a bargain comparing with S5...

Any Prisma 2.0 questions I've had I directed to CrazyGuy. He's got some running, probably has a few to sell and can comment on their stability and reliability.

I haven't read the details on the prisma 2.0 anyone have a link to all the specs and price?

From my understanding same specs as the first Prisma, they just fixed the circuitry and software problems.  Also added shield to the boards for protection and stacking.  Other then that I believe efficiency and all the rest is still the same.  From what I heard reliability is increased considerably, but I never owned one.

What do you mean by shields? Like a case or an electric magnetic shield?

Black metal shields over the boards that used to be bare.

The used to look like this.

Now they look like this in 2.0

They are bad miners from what I hear. They are CRAZY LOUD and BURST into flames. And also not that much efficient from what we already have out there.

I thought that was one of the things they fixed in 2.0?  I know the 1.0s were bad; loud, fires, chips not hashing etc.

Like I said I never owned one so I am asking, if the 2.0s are in the same boat as the 1.0s?  I thought all the bad items were fixed with the miners in version 2.0

Avoid it like the plague, if buying directly from that scam of a company. The controllers are horrible, but some people had luck with the USB adapters. If you buy it from someone like CrazyGuy you might be alright since he would have probably tested it.

It is sad as AsicMiner did set the bar at the beginning of asics for a few miners.  But the prisma does not have much good pr.

One of the things I don't like if I remember right it does not have temp sensors.  I like my miners to be smart enough to turn off not to burn up.

It truly is sad that it happened.  They had a long pretty good history.   But I think somethings were overlooked.  A temp sensor cant cost more then a dollar in bulk at that.

To not put a temp sensor and put out a miner that mines hot, is short term thinking.

CrazyGuy is good.

The Prisma sucks.  Stay away from them and stay away from ASICMiner.

I have some friends with the "Tube" miner and they did not have any issues with them besides the loudness of them. You could try and find a tube since it is similar to a Prisma just smaller.

FTFY.  The tubes weren't bad, at least the few that I had/have. I wouldn't be ordering directly from AM these days, that's for sure.

until AM comes forward with some sort of tangible plan of action, and some transparency as to what exactly has been going on for the last year, they are officially "persona non grata"

even if they do come clean with past and present financials, some clarity as to what happened and why, and some sort of strategy for future dealings, they have still lost so much trust that I doubt they can recover. I have already kissed my holdings in AM goodbye. Only a miracle could save them now and I'm agnostic to say the least.

I really liked the Tube for raising the bar on package efficiency. I can't think of a mainstream miner before the Tube that used so few non hashing board parts, or a miner that managed 800W off a single 120mm fan. Some didn't like the controllers and they were rather vulnerable to damage though.

Agreed, I wish more of the home-geared miners would have been created in that kind of DIY tunnel heat-sink design. It was very simple and effective.

Home and small farm-based mining would have (had) a better chance if we could re-use heatsinks, fans and controllers (not that the BE controller is anything to want to re-use). Even if the new chips are moving away from the bottom heat dissipating QFN packages, there is still a use for the frame.
