How to?

Where are the PND Freaks? cadexn, jommy99, dicksausage and all the others?

I believe it is time to simply let go. Bringing this coin back will take a very long time, and that's if we're lucky.

I know for some that is pretty difficult to acknowledge due to the amount of money they put into PND, but I really don't see us coming back from this.

Most of them are in the IRC I think. Anyways, thanks for making a new thread OP.

What about those checkpoints key amdoge has mani talked about?

We will have to fork Pandacoin to get full control and our own keys and convince Pandas to upgrade, we will need to run our own checkpoint server too.  I don't think this is our top priority, I think Pandacoin is an unlikely attack target atm with our low price and no volume but we do need to form some kind of real Panda inner community / oversight committee to be trusted to be guiding a safe trustable and likely slow Pandacoin revival.

Be sure to back up your wallet.dat  then if you are using the latest PandaBank v3.0.2
under settings options advanced you can reset your blockchain and or reset your peers

Well, I'd LMAO if I wasn't so bitterly disappointed by MaNI's posts and by developers' "silenzio stampa"...
As for the "community", I have to wonder why is that huge 18+ BTC sell wall on the biggest exchange PND has... What kind of "community" is that? Just a few pump'n'dump groups/users playing the newbies and the excessively hopeful ones?
Jommy99 seems to be the only one that really makes something... but even with those small tokens of interest in this coin, the sell-wall only increases (albeit at a slower pace lately).
An earlier post mentioned a fork, a new checkpoint server, a new dev/management team... I would not take the BitcoinFoundation route... too centralized for my taste. Well... none of those are coming cheap and/or easy. And all of them will require trust before money.
Let's face the music: the hype is over and we were left in the woods with only rags on our backs (read MaNI's posts about the state of the development for PandaBank) and a few chipped tools to work our way with...
I still stake a few 100k's of PND once in a while (about twice a week)... but only for the old times' sake...
Sadly, I lack the skills and the resources required for a position in a development team, but my opinion is "don't invest in PND until the entire coin infrastructure is in responsible and reputable hands".

My windows wallet v3.0.2 doesn't seem to be getting any connections to the network of late.

Anyone else having the same issue?

Not having any trouble with my wallets, I have running a 2.02 a 3.02 and an android wallet all connected well.

Yeah me neither today. 65 connections all last week...usually always just 16, but today only  'looking for peers' for last 4 hours......

Reset peers function didn't do anything.

It looks like we have the DNS seeders running again, so you may not need this now but it will not hurt to do. Just create a Pandacoin.conf text file with the above lines then copy it to where your Pandacoin wallet.dat file is (always keep a safe backup of wallet.dat). Pandacoin.conf should be in the same folder as your wallet.dat on mac try  ~/Library/Application Support/Pandacoin, In order to see hidden folders, such as ~/Library from Finder, simply hit shift + ⌘ (command) + G which will GO to a folder, then paste in this location: ~/Library/Application Support/Pandacoin

I did some debugging using some command line arguments pandacoin-qt.exe -debug -seednode=212.114.110.241  (our Pandacoin dnsseeder01)

So the dns seeder seems to work again but since it was not functioning when you started wnynotmakeit you may have to exit and restart and worst case use the -seednode=212.114.110.241 command line option to specify using Pandacoin dnsseeder01

Thanks. Did a restart of pandabank yet again  and entered the code you gave into the console but just get the error as below. Appreciate any more advice you can give. Sorry to be a pain but I want to remain loyal to pnd if I can and continue staking 24/7

Method not found (code -32601)

Created a plain txt file named as above and put in the folder with path as described above (and same folder as my wallet.dat), restarted pandabank and still no go...just 'searching for peers' still :-(  Appreciate any other advice you could give

wow very surprised but let's see what happens if you try to use a Command Line Provided Address,
you can specify nodes to connect to with the Command line Parameter when starting your wallet via the command line.
-addnode <ip>    Multiple nodes may be specified.

Not sure how to start pandabank by command line, but if I go to the console within pandabank help and enter -addnode 212.114.110.241
I get the usual Method not found (code -32601)

Suggestion: 
If wnynotmakeit main problem is not finding any peers.

Why not place a copy of peers.dat from someone with some active connections up for him to download and overwrite his peers.dat .

Should fix the issue for him, unless I am misunderstanding something in Pandabank.

Thanks kiklo, good idea and I did get a peers.dat out to wnynotmakeit, we were working together on our irc channel. 

I lost a computer with my pandacoin wallet on it. I backed it up a couple days prior to losing it. I downloaded and installed v3.0.2 but when I run it it just sits displaying "searching for peers" if I close it and rerun it has error loading something (I think it was block data.) I tried installing and replacing the wallet.dat with my backup but after that i got the error loading and it wouldnt start. Any help?

Created pandacoin.conf with the ip list in prior posting and still getting "error loading blkindex.dat

Exactly the same here but problem occurred after a normal restart. Running osx latest version. Same on a brand new user account. Even if I install on a legacy machine that has never had pandacoin installed I get exactly the same problem :-( Installed on clean new windoze box and happy to report all is working again (same router, same IP etc as before so has to be a mac specific issue). Won't be able to run this box 24/7 tho so can you confirm I just need to run every month to stake, and please let me know when fixed for Mac again so I can again run 24/7, thanks.

I take it all back. It had a problem verifying the blockchain and now when I restart it it has the same problem as the macs and these guys above with unable to load due to a blkindex.dat error. Another several hours wasted and a wallet I can't use. Any advice please or do we just write it all off........

I did find out the deal with the hybrid mode is that during verify when you are behind also receiving blocks you can have that bug, one trick is to disable the network for the verify step; however I recommend classic mode for now if you are having trouble. once it gets that blkindex.dat error, unfortunately you have to delete everything except wallet.dat in your Pandacoin data folder (%appdata%/Pandacoin) folder to try again.

Then when you try again switch to classic right away then exit, download and place https://bchain.info/PND/bootstrap.dat in the same place as wallet.dat and restart your PandaBank to speed things up some.

Hope this helps some, you may or may not need a Pandacoin.conf file with good nodes (cut and paste example lines below into a plain text Pandacoin.conf file) so it is a good idea to make one and place it in your Pandacoin data folder also prior to starting Pandabank.

Glad to be of help with anyones Pandacoin supported wallet(s) or service etc. just ask, it is always nice to see more Pandacoins being used and PandaBanks Online stake mining to help secure the Pandacoin network.
Well activated www.DigitalPandacoin.org today; although it is very much a work in progress, imo it is nice to have a real home Page for Pandacoin again. If anyone would like to help make it better just speak out we are always looking for feedback, new ideas and Interested People, Pandacoin is for everybody.

Great news. Deleting (again) everything except wallet.dat in that folder, changing to classic mode with network disconnected, then dropping in the blockchain file and config file as you suggest worked fine. Running in classic mode still (on the mac) and too scared to change to hybrid, but at least all is working and I am staking again. Thanks for all your suggestions jommy99...You are a credit to this community

version 2.02 is a more typical wallet, and is perfectly compatible with our running network, recommended for exchanges, hope this helps some.

Does anyone know how to create a bootstrap.dat. I received one sometime ago that gets me about half way thru the blockchain quickly. Twice my pnd wallet wont start without an error and i've had to reinstall the wallet and download the blockchain. Takes forever. I'd like to make a more current bootstrap.dat  in case it happens again.

Would like to throw out a suggestion for debate on Pandacoin.

Some previous issues with the amount of Panda owned by dirty dealers.
Why not when releasing a new version ,
do a reversed split by 8 , so the 32 billion panda then becomes only 4 billion total.
After doing this , the interest rate could be changed to a permanent 8% per year.

This should revitalize interest in Panda and get the coin moving in a Positive Direction.
People that ignored it due to only 2.5% rate , would pay attention to it if it were 8%.

Any way up for debate.

It is always good to hear new ideas and brainstorm, and we do need to eventually release a new PandaBank and be able to continue the evolution of our Digital Pandacoin (PND). I would tend to lean towards being extra cautious about what is changed myself, anything requiring a fork we do needs to be accepted by the majority of active stakeholdings. I personally think it is important to maintain our Pandacoin specification integrity although at times it is tough to not want the quick fix to raise the price back into the reasonable BTC markets trading range. There are so many opportunities to make Pandacoin better,  and work on usability and integratability as well as new services and eventually more marketing would be ideal ways to grow our way to better days bringing all our Pandacoins up in value IMHO.  Every Pandacon owner that has Pandacoin to stake mine gets to decide using their Proof of Stake to decide such matters in the end. It would be great to hear from more of the community, Pandacoin traders and even bystanders on their thoughts.

IMO if you're going to revive, it needs to be done sooner rather than later. I agree that it shouldn't be hastily thrown together, but to drag it on would not reap success.

Earning interest (PoS staking) is, much like PoW mining, a random process. Every unspent transaction made to one of the addresses in your wallet are eligible for creating PoS blocks provided that it was received at least 72 hours ago. However, the likelihood of a transaction actually creating a new block depends on two important factors: the transaction amount and the coin age. I quite difficult when staking panda coin, sometimes when Synchrone block always fail and wallet to be restarted (Not connected) ???

It looks like pnd price is way up on coinmarketcap and coingecko. Yesterday up 200 + percent. I went to bleutrade and the price was nowhere near that. It was  much lower even though coingecko said that price was from a few minutes ago. I bought some pnd and price was much lower than the price reported.  Makes me wonder if these sites are useful for valuation of coins. Can anyone explain this?

Thanks for the update, I will keep an eye out too; but I think the current price could be hard to track accurately for a bit and atm where there are still a few 1 satoshi sell orders out there to be nibbled away. The other markets are giving us some sub satoshi buying opportunities although in low volume only; I don't think Coingeko takes that into consideration.  Since we are not really marketing our Pandacoin at this time and we have no timetable on any significant new developments the price may take some time to rise. We are working on our capabilities and adding new seperated Production / Development infrastructure, teaming up some with other teams and growing a new Digital Pandacoin Development team. Slow and careful as she goes but there are always new challenges and opportunities around every corner. I personally think we should not change anything regarding our supply or our low inflation of less than 2 1/2% but it is always good to keep up the brainstorming. I also think the coin supply is much lower in reality to what is showing on Pandacoin's blockchain since our Pandacoin has been through much since our initial launch. Even though we project new Pandacoins being created at 1 1/2% annually that is only if all the Pandacoins were being stake mined in actuality growth is happening much slower overall.

In the interest of discussion, what about a coin swap or trade / reverse split where every Pandacoin owner needs to use a website within some timeframe to perform a transformation we could also eliminate all lost forever Pandacoin?

2 months of time frame of should be more enough time for all those PND holder to notice about the swap. We could start a new thread within and that should suffice what I guess.

I like the idea of a swap to eliminate lost coins. I'm worried about increasing interest rate. Afraid if to many Panda created the Panda I have will be worth less. Perhaps interest rate could fluctuate with the value of the coin. Like market cap up = interest up. Market cap down = interest down.

Big price jump on Bleutrade.... what I miss?

Having some trouble for the first time synchronizing w/ the network..  my Pandabank was turned off for about a month or so while I was away, but restarting it hasn't seemed to produce a sync and no staking is taking place.  It's trying to do something, but just says "Synchronizing with network", and endlessly searches,  says 12085 blocks remaining, but that number doesn't seem to change much. I also only see 1 red bar at the low-right icon, I"m not sure if that is an indication of the overall health of the network?  I've been a loyal staker for quite some time,  can anyone advise as to what might be wrong, or how I can rectify?  Should I try the 'Reset Blockchain' button in the settings?

I'm running on a macbook with OSX 10.10.4.

The Pandacoin network is working fine, I would suggest switching to classic mode for now as it is solid and trouble free for stake mining.  To help speed up a sync from the beginning or from behind a few weeks or more you should consider downloading a bootstrap file into your Pandacon directory, then restarting your PandaBank.  You can download the Bootstrap file from this Pandacoin block explorer https://bchain.info/PND/ right here is the direct link to the file https://bchain.info/PND/bootstrap.dat (https://bchain.info/PND/bootstrap.dat)

Hey Jommy,  thank you so much for the help with my problem syncing (few posts back).  I simply switched to Pandacoin Classic mode, and let the thing re-sync for a few days.  I was a tad worried at first, because when I switched it showed a zero balance for a day or two, but soon it seemed to catch up and all seems to be working fine now. 

Would be great to see if Pandacoin can be revived. I'm not sure what's happening in the way of development for the myriad of other alt-coins out there, but Pandacoin had some great momentum and development going in the past,  and still has the best wallet by far, even way better than Dogecoin.  Would be great to get the party going again!

I did that.I have been running the wallet non stop pretty mch unless Ihave to reboot my system I have it to start up with windows.I never had the problem before with it as its been rock solid so i never really needed to worry about it untill a few days ago when I noticed it had no connections.I found that rather disturbing lol.

Thanks for your help supporting the Pandacoin network, on rare occasions strange things can happen so be sure to keep a fairly recent backup of your wallet.dat somewhere safe.  It is best to have it on a separate storage device like a USB drive, it is not a large file but contains your addresses and any private key(s) needed to restore your Bank/wallet if anything bad happens to your pc or hard drive.

Thanks just has no connections now its happened before with other wallets only to connect sometimes days or weeks later.About a year ago Ilearned to go into windows reg and increase allowable outgoing connections it helped tremendously but im pretty sure thats not the problem.If it doesn't start back on its own which they sometimes do I will see if dedicating a port to it in my router configuration will work I will give it a few days unless someone has a better idea.

It may just be taking time to process your Pandacoin.conf (is it in the same folder with wallet.dat?) or there may be something wrong with it or your Peers.dat, if you are still not connecting. I would try to reset your peers.dat by going into Settings/Options/Advanced and click reset peers.  I am confident we can get you back to a fully functional and dependable PandaBank with your balances in tact, but trying not to have you re-sync from the beginning.
