I notice the news report on Apr 4, 2015, and only one resource, there are no other resource can confirm this.

It looks like user submitted content and not actual reporting.

Same as Zimbabway declaring BTC as official currency.

Absolutely, the price would probably crash. The market barely handles te 3600 btc that ar mined each day let alone 650k bitcoin. But this doesn't look like a trustworthy or official source.

Some of the coins might already have been dumped. He is a fat ass thief who made people lose millions, but he is not that stupid to deposit everything into several exchanges.

Coins have been mixed thoroughly and sent to hundreds - thousands of addresses in small quantities. That's his best chance in hoping no one will find out his addresses.

It is most likely an april fools joke. What puzzles me tho and what I dont get is, how did Karpeles hide 650K BTC? Jesus. Isn't bitcoin pseudoanonymous? why aren't they able to trace the coins back? Did he really run 650000 coins throught a mixer or what?

This is fabricated. There is no other media on the internet reporting the story. There was not a news conference where MK stated he found 650,000 coins.

This is Bitcoin. What seems to be the dumbest joke ever could soon turn out to be reality... however that doesn't mean that Mt.Gox victims will receive a single Satoshi.

That's where over 420K were. They kept splitting up from there until many addresses held less than 1k coins.
Why would they split it so many times? Obviously this behavior is quite unusual and causes suspicion, but wait let's blametransaction malleability.  ::)

If this was supposed to be a joke, then it turned out to be a very sick joke. Tens of thousands of people lost their livelihoods and life savings as a result of Karpeles and Mt Gox. Many committed suicide. Don't rub salt into their wounds any further.

I did not see this news from another source. I think it`s just bad joke and may be try to took attention. Bad joke for all victims here.

A lot of people left Bitcoin, because of MtGox and some even turned against it, and became "Bitcoin haters"

The damage MtGox has caused, will have a ripple affect through the Bitcoin community for years to come... We do not need sick jokes like this.  >:(

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Many dozens, if not hundreds might have committed suicide.

1. It's a joke
2. Nobody would crash the price as the sum belongs to multiple users, so you'd need a 1000 people to dump it the moment it's given back to them.

You can just buy a domain, put some content on it and then write whatever you want. Whether it's a reliable source or not is another issue. I don't see similar references from other sites making that claim and if it is, I'm sure coindesk, cointelegraph or whichever big cryptocoins news sites would have reported it as well.

This might be tactic to bring the bitcoin rate down though I am not sure about it. Someone should do monitoring for all such kind of reportings.
